Assessment of Student Learning-Global Cultural Studies

Global Cultural Studies 2009-2010:

Direct measure: Six students participated, in which four marketingsales and planning
assignments were assessed andtwo exams. A total of three BMGT 205 classesfrom Fall 2011 and Spring
2012 are included inthe assessment. Students assignment gradesaveraged a GPA of 3.6 compared to a
classaverage of 3.4. Exam grades averaged 89%compared to a class average of 86%. Threestudents
received a rubric score of 3 (exceedsstandards) and threereceived a rubric score of 2(meets standard)

Second Direct Measure: Six students participated, in which coursegrades were based on four
assignments, twoexams and attendance. A total of three BMGT205 classes from Fall 2011 and Spring
2012are included in the assessment. Averagecourse GPA for students was 3.7 compared to3.3 for the
class average. A 3.7 GPA iscategorized as good

Forensic Science 2012-2013:


Direct measure: Targeted questions embedded in exams and scored according to a class grade
supplied by the professor and according to a rubric (attached)

Indirect Measure: Examine grades for select exams and assignments for BIO 341 , grouping
students by good (cumulative GPA = 3.0 to4.0), average (cumulative GPA = 2.0 to 2.9) and poor
(cumulative GPA = <2.0). These grade scores will be compared to the class average to determine the
status of Funeral Service students.

Recommendations/Actions:

make them aware of the challenges of the course (BIOL 341,Environmental Health) to prepare them for
a rigorous study

them for a rigorous study. The professor of the course will also evaluate the course structure to possibly

Direct measure: In Abnormal Psychology (PSYC 204), the objective(ability to differentiate)was


assessed using two of the course’s midterm exams. Both exams holistically address the objective and are
attached. The mean exam scores for the exams were as follows: Exam 1Exam

judge to see how this affects students.

half do another, to allow them less understanding and add to questions need to evaluate.301:I
plan to have peer review done with no history of the experiments to be taken to allow for
concentration on the individual rather than the science
