Getting Started (Android)
Last Updated: Sep 07, 2017 02:58PM EDT

Before you start to import maps, add placemarks, and use map tools, you should first get acquainted with the
basics.

In this article, you can find information about two of the most used interfaces (Maps List, and Map View) and
how to view the Getting Started map.

Getting Started Map

The Getting Started, which is by default available when the app is downloaded, provides information about
several of the app's features and tools, as well as helps you learn to navigate the Map View. Pan around the map
to read the various pointers and hints. If you delete the Getting Started map, you can import it again through
the Settings tab.

Maps List
When the Avenza Maps app is opened, the default screen is known as the 'Maps List'. This displays any
maps that you have downloaded, a panel along the top with 4 icons/tabs, as well as an 'Add' context
menu (lower right corner) which provides options to Add Folder, Add Collection, or Download or import a
map. The 4 icons/tabs located along the top of the Maps List are:

• Map Store

• Account

• Search

• Settings

6
Map View and Toolbar
When you select a map from the Maps List, the map opens displaying the Map View. The map view consists of several
components:
Back
Search
Map information
GPS and Compass
Add Placemark
Coordinates
Map Features
Map Tools

Maps List (Android)
Last Updated: Oct 26, 2017 09:46AM EDT

The Map List provides a quick view and easy access to any maps that you have downloaded or imported onto your device. The
map's title, publisher, distance and direction from your current location are displayed. In place of distance and direction, you
may see "On map" displayed, which signifies that you are currently located within the extent/coverage of that map.
Additionally, the list also indicates whether a map is part of a collection and if it was obtained from the Avenza Maps Store or
imported from another source. You can add and manage maps from here. For more details about creating folders, adding or
removing maps, please see the links below.

Importing a Map (Android)
Last Updated: Sep 11, 2017 02:08PM EDT

Custom map imports (non-map store) are limited to three maps at any given time unless you are an Unlimited Import or Pro
subscriber. These maps can be swapped out as often as you like. Map store maps are unlimited regardless of subscription
type.

On the Map List screen, tap the Add icon ('+') followed by "Download or import a map" to import a map. You can import a
map from any of the following sources:
Avenza Map Store
Device Storage
Dropbox
QR Code
Web
Custom URL Scheme

Avenza Map Store

Opens the Avenza Map Store where you can get free maps as well as purchase maps. Learn more about the Avenza Map Store.

Request a Map
This option will allow you to contact us and request a map not currently found in the map store. Please provide as much detail as
possible about the desired map, and if you have a web link available for the map wanted, please provide that as well.

9
QR Code
Avenza Maps features a built-in QR code reader that allows you to import maps by scanning QR codes displayed on signs,
posters, maps or the web.
1. Tap the QR Code icon in the top right corner.
2. If this is the first time you are using the app, you will need to allow the app access to the device camera.
3. Scan the QR code.

Device Storage
You can load maps from your device's storage (internal memory or memory card).
1. Tap From Device Storage
2. Tap a map you want to import.

10

to Avenza Maps.

Note: You must have a separate Dropbox account (free to create) if you wish to sync Avenza Maps with Dropbox.
1. Tap From Dropbox.
2. Confirm that you want to connect to Dropbox.
3. Enter your login credentials or tap Allow (if you're already logged into Dropbox).
4. Tap to select which maps you want to import, then tap Import.

Web
Enter a URL of a compatible georeferenced map. The map will automatically download to your device.

Custom URL Scheme

Enter a custom URL scheme (pdfmaps:// or avenzamaps://) to open the desired map file in the app. For example,
add the prefix to a map in the following format:

pdfmaps://www.mywebsite.com/maps/Toronto.pdf OR
avenzamaps://www.mywebsite.com/maps/Toronto.pdf

After adding a prefix simply share the URL via email or message and click the link. The link will automatically open
in Avenza Maps and the import of the map will begin. If the person opening the link does not have Avenza Maps
installed, they will be prompted to install the app.
Please note that in order to force the direct download from some sources (e.g. Dropbox), the web address may
need to be modified. Please contact Avenza Support using the contact form if you run into any problems.
Note: Some devices, carriers, and email clients do not support this format or have size restrictions.

Supported Map Formats

Avenza Maps supports the following formats for custom imported maps:
Geospatial PDF (.pdf) - A PDF embedded with geographic information
TerraGo GeoPDF (.pdf) - A PDF embedded with geographic information. GeoPDF is a proprietary format of TerraGo

will automatically prompt Avenza Maps to open when clicked.

Managing Maps and Folders (Android)

Last Updated: Sep 06, 2017 03:04PM EDT

From the Maps List, there are two different context menus that can be accessed to allow you to manage your maps and
folders. The first is accessible through the '+' icon in the lower right corner, and the second is by performing a long press
on any one of the maps listed in the Maps List.

'+' Context Menu

From the '+' icon, in addition to adding a map, you are able to add a Folder, or a Collection in order to better organize
your maps.

A folder allows you to group certain maps together based on your individual needs. There are no automated sorting
abilities, so the control remains in the user's hands.

A collection is similar to a folder in that you can group certain maps together as you choose, however, the key difference
is that a collection will allow you to automatically shift from one map to another while in the Map View based on your
location.

Long Press Context Menu

On the Map List screen, long press on the map, folder or collection to select it. Once in selection mode, you can select
additional map list items. Selected maps are highlighted. A few contextual options appear to manage map list items.
1. Move to Folder/Collection - Tap the Move to folder icon to move selected maps to another folder.
2. Map information -Select maps, folders or collections, then tap the Information icon.
You can rename maps or folders in the Title field. Map details consist of metadata including publisher, description, publish
date, and projection information.

12
3. Delete - Select maps, folders, or collections then tap the Delete icon.

13
Moving Maps
To move maps to a folder or a collection, long-press on the desired map(s), and then select the 'Move' icon. This will then
display a list of available folders, including the Root Folder. Select the desired folder and the maps will be moved.

14
Map Collections (Android)
Last Updated: Sep 20, 2017 10:52AM EDT

A Map Collection is a special folder that contains a set of maps and treats them as a larger collective. This allows you to pan to
adjacent maps within the collection without having to reload another map. Map Collections work best when maps are
geographically adjacent to each other, although maps can overlap and be of different extent and size.

To create a Collection:
1. View the Maps list.
2. Tap the floating action button and tap on 'Add Collection'

To enable Collection on an already created Folder:

1. Tap the information icon beside the folder.
2. Tap the Collection setting to enable it.

15
Adding Maps to a Collection
To add maps to a collection, long press on the desired map and then select any other maps you would like to move. Once all of your
maps are selected, tap on the 'Move' icon along the top and select the Collection folder as the destination.

Viewing a map in a Map Collection

An inset map in the top-left corner shows the extent of all the maps in a Map Collection. On the inset map, a darker gray and a
+ represents the crosshair and the relative position on the current map. The blue dot represents your GPS location (if applicable). To
go to an adjacent map, pan to the edge of the map and continue to pan in the direction of the adjacent map - the adjacent map will
automatically load in the map view.

To jump to any map in the collection, tap a map footprint on the inset map. The vertical column to the right of the inset
indicates map scale relative to the other maps in the collection.

To enlarge the inset map, swipe it to the right. To reduce the inset map, swipe it to the left. To hide the inset map, swipe it left
until only a tab with arrow shows. To show the inset map, tap the inset map tab or swipe right.

16
When maps share the similar extent but are of two different map scales, you can pinch to zoom to the larger or smaller scale map by
zooming in or out and holding when you reach the maximum or minimum zoom level.

the icon and the information will be displayed.

18
Locating with GPS and Compass (Android)
Last Updated: Oct 18, 2017 09:39AM EDT

Location
Tap the GPS icon to find your location on the map. Your location is displayed as a blue dot. The blue
transparent circle is an indication of the accuracy of the GPS fix (the smaller the circle, the more
accurate of a fix). If you're not physically within the extents of the map, "Not on map" will be
displayed where the map coordinates are.

On devices with built-in GPS, your location will be triangulated within a few seconds. Depending on
your device and available services, your location is determined using a combination of cellular, Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth, and GPS. Learn more about location access in Android here.

19
Compass
Avenza Maps has two different compass options when viewing a map. Follow-mode, and Compass-
mode. When the compass is enabled, as shown above, the default is Follow-mode (map is in the default
orientation, and the crosshair will follow your movement. If you tap the GPS compass again, it will
change to Compass-mode (symbol will change as well), and the map will rotate based on the direction
you are facing (see image below). A compass also appears in the top-right of the map view. If you tap
the compass a third time the compass will be disabled. You can also rotate the map manually using a
two-finger rotate gesture.

Calibration
Your mobile device uses various sensors to obtain compass directions. These sensors are prone to interference
and thus you may need to calibrate your device compass from time to time. If you are having issues with the
Avenza Maps compass, please consult your device manufacturer's instructions on how to calibrate your
device compass. After recalibration is complete, if you are still having issues with the compass, please ensure
that you are clear from any potential satellite disruptions (e.g. tall buildings, dense tree cover, etc.) as these
will also interfere with a signal.

20
Searching a Map (Android)
Last Updated: Sep 20, 2017 11:50AM EDT

On any map, you can search for existing placemarks, lines or tracks. Tap the search icon (magnifying glass) and enter a term

To see all map features, tap the Map Features List icon.

A list of map features belonging to the map is shown. Starting in version 3.3, map features exist in one layer by default. This
means that areas, lines, placemarks, and tracks will all exist in the same layer and are no longer divided based on feature type.
The orange layer title indicates that it is the current layer - any additional map features (areas, lines, placemarks, or tracks)
added to the map are placed on that layer.

On the Map Features screen, there are several actions you can take:
1. Import Map Features
2. Export Map Features
3. Add Layer
4. Search Map Features
5. Edit Map Features

25

Managing Map Features (Android)
Last Updated: Sep 22, 2017 12:36PM EDT

Using the Map Feature display, you can manage your map features by changing the visibility of features and layers,
renaming layers, moving features or layers around, deleting features or layers, or modifying specific layers' properties
(such as default icon, locking the layer, etc.).

To access the Map Feature display you must go through Map View for the specific map as there is no global database
of Map Features on Android,

Adjust map feature visibility

To adjust Map Feature visibility, long press on any layer within the Map Features List to bring up the edit view. Once
the edit view is enabled, tap the 3 dot menu into the top right corner, and select 'Toggle Visibility'. This will turn the
visibility for that layer on/off and can be repeated for other layers.

If you want to toggle specific features within a layer, rather than the entire layer, before entering the edit state, tap the
Layer to see a list of available features. Once this list is displayed, long press on the feature you want to adjust visibility
for, tap the 3 dot menu icon in the top right corner, and 'Toggle Visibility' on/off.

29
Adding a layer
To add a layer, with the Map Features open, tap the floating action button (3 line icon), then the Add Layer icon. Rename the
layer as desired, and select OK. A new layer will be added. Please note, that this layer, by default, will not be the active layer
for data collection. To specify which layer to be the active layer, please see 'Layer Settings' below. Layers can be nested (layer
within a layer).

Layer Settings
To view or change the Layer Settings, long press on a layer within the Map Features screen to enable the edit view. Once the
edit view is enabled, tap the edit icon (pencil). This will take you to the 'Edit Layer screen. From here you can rename the
layer, lock it (prevents it from being deleted), set the default icon and track color, add an attribute schema, as well as set the
layer to be the current layer for data collection.

30
Moving a map feature or layer
To move a map feature or entire layer to another layer:
1. Long press on a layer or map feature(s) you want to move to select it.
2. Tap the Move icon.
3. In the layer tree, tap the layer you would like to move the feature(s) to
4. You will be asked if you want the destination layer's styles to be applied to the new features
1. If you select Yes, the features will be moved and will take on the new styling for the destination layer
2. If you select No, the features will be moved but will keep their original styling

31
Deleting a map feature or layer
Deleting the layer will completely delete it from the device and can't be undone. To delete a map feature or folder:
1. Long press on a layer or map feature(s) to select it.
2. Tap the action overflow icon (3 dot icon in the top right corner), then tap Delete.
3. In the warning message, tap Yes to delete.

32
Attribute Schema (Android)
Last Updated: Sep 12, 2017 02:52PM EDT

An attribute schema allows users to create a series of attributes for a layer to make data collection more efficient. The schema
defines the name, type, and associated properties such as an optional pick list.

Creating an Attribute Schema

There are two ways to create an attribute schema within the app. Both options result in the same workflow but allow for two
separate points to create the schema.

1. Through an individual feature on a map

2. Through the layer itself

The workflow below breaks down how to create the schema through an already added feature on a map.

1. Create a feature on a map

2. Tap on the feature to access the Edit Map Feature dialog
3. Tap on the pencil icon in the Attributes section (this will open the
Edit Layer screen)
4. With the Edit Layer screen open, you can change the layer name, set
a new icon, as well as create your attribute schema. Tap the '+' icon to
create a new attribute
5. Rename the attribute as desired
6. Set the type of attribute
1. String - alphanumeric characters
2. Boolean - yes or no values
3. Real - numbers that can contain decimal values
4. Integer - whole numbers
7. If desired, set a picklist value (repeat this step for each value
required)
8. Tap the back arrow when the attribute is as desired
9. Repeat steps 6-8 for each desired attribute

33
Importing an Attribute Schema

To import a custom schema you will use a similar process to importing Map Features. Open the desired map that you want the
schema on, and select Import Map Features. Once open, select the checkbox for "Import Schema Only" and navigate to the
desired file. Please note that schema must be in KML format.
Once imported, the scheme will be on its own layer and may require additional changes in order to be the active layer for data
collection.

Using Attribute Schemas

With an active layer scheme, users can begin collecting data using the pre-designed attributes, icons, any other styling settings.
To collect data using a schema please follow the steps below:

1. Set the schema as the active layer on a map (please see Managing Features)
2. Add a placemark, line, track or area to the map
3. Tap on the feature and go to the Edit Map Feature screen
4. In the Attributes section, tap the attribute you need to enter data for
5. If the attribute has a picklist, choose the appropriate value, or enter a new value
6. Tap the back arrow to return to the Edit Map Feature screen
7. Repeat steps 4-6 for each remaining attribute
8. Close the Edit Map Feature screen when you are satisfied
9. Repeat for any other features

34
Importing Map Features (Android)
Last Updated: Oct 12, 2017 11:27AM EDT
Avenza Maps allows the import of custom map features for use on maps both online and offline. Map Features include
placemarks, tracks, lines, and areas (as of v3.3). The first step to importing your own custom map features is to ensure that you
have a map open that will cover the area of interest. Once this map is open tap the Map Features icon located next to the
wrench (see image below). Currently, imported features must be in either KML/KMZ format or Shapefile. The importing of
Attribute Schemas can only be done through the KML/KMZ format. Please note that the importing of Shapefiles requires a Pro
Subscription, as well as the appropriate files combined together in a ZIP folder in order to successfully import (.shp, .shx, .prj,
and .dbf)

35
Once the Map Features List is displayed, tap the Menu icon in the lower right corner to reveal the available options (Import
Map Features, Export Map Features, Add Layer). Select Import Map Features.

You can import from several sources including:

Import Schema Only (KML/KMZ) - Allows you to import an attribute schema with no extra map features
Recently Used (KML/KMZ, Shapefile*) - Allows you to choose from a list of previously used layers (ideal when
importing Map Features from Email, or if using the same feature layer on multiple maps). This option can be used for
offline importing
From Device Storage (KML/KMZ, Shapefile*) - Allows you to access your local device storage (internal or SD card).
This option is ideal for offline importing
From Dropbox (KML/KMZ, Shapefile*) - Allows you to connect to Dropbox to import features. Please note this option
does require an internet connection and access to a Dropbox account
From the Web (KML/KMZ, Shapefile*)

*Shapefile only supported with Avenza Maps Pro. Please also note that Shapefiles must in a ZIP folder with all relevant
components (.shp, .shx, .dbf, .prj)

Last Updated: Sep 26, 2017 08:24AM EDT

Map features, such as placemarks, tracks, lines, and areas (as of v3.3) can be exported for use in another device, or GIS
software. At this time, Map Features must be exported per map and cannot be exported for multiple maps at a time. To export
Map Features, you must open the map that has features you want to export. Once the map is open, tap the Map Features icon
located next to the wrench (see image below) to open the Map Features List.

37
Once the Map Features List is displayed, tap the Menu icon in the lower right corner to reveal the available options (Import
Map Features, Export Map Features, Add Layer). Select Export Map Features.

On the Export Map Features screen, you can specify export settings to suit your requirements.

You can export with the following options:

Filename - By default this will use the name of the map but can be changed to something more appropriate if required
Export Format - Currently we support exporting data as KML/KMZ, CSV, GPX, and Shapefile*. Please note that if
wanting to reimport the data into Avenza Maps, data must be exported as either KML/KMZ or Shapefile*
Send-To (Destination) - This is where the data will be sent to. Options include:
Device Storage (internal or SD card)
Email
Dropbox
Media Size - This option is valid for data that has images attached to it, and if the appropriate data type is selected
(KML/KMZ, or Shapefile*). The Media Size options available are:
No Image
Small
Medium
Large

38
Export Visible Only - This option allows you to only export features that are visible. It is an ideal way to only export
certain layers or features if required
Export - This option will export the data and schema using the settings you designated
Export Schema Only - This option will only export the attribute schema (no map features). Please note that in order to use
this option, the format must be KML/KMZ to be used in the app again

*Shapefile support is available in the Pro version only.

Record GPS Tracks Tool (Android)
Last Updated: Nov 21, 2017 03:18PM EST

Within Avenza Maps users have the ability to record their tracks through the use of GPS. Please note that in order to use the
Record GPS Tracks feature, users need to have a device that is GPS enabled. Some devices, such as certain models of iPads,
do not have a built in GPS chip, which means that while they will work while connected to the network, once the device is no
longer connected to the internet, the GPS will no longer work. Record GPS Tracks is used to record your route, speed,
distance, and elevation while you walk, hike, run, bike, or do anything else outdoors.

Recording a Track
GPS tracks are recorded from directly within a Map View and therefore requires a map to be open. It is possible to continue
tracking off the map, but only the portion that is on the map will be displayed. Tracking can also occur across Map Collections
as well. There are a variety of GPS Settings that allow users to customize the accuracy based on various scenarios (walking
versus driving). For more information, please see GPS Settings.

To record a GPS track:

1. Have an appropriate map open that covers the desired area
2. Tap on the Tools icon (the wrench on the top right side of the toolbar) and select Record GPS Tracks
3. Once a signal has been established (will see "Ready" displayed), tap the Play icon to start recording. Your tracks will
continuing recording, even if you minimize the app.
4. When you are done recording, tap 'Done' and the track will be saved as a Map Feature.

46
Viewing a Track
Saved tracks can be viewed on the map or exported for use on another device, or software. For more detailed track information,
tap the track to show its label, then tap the information icon. To view Track Statistics, tap on "Show Graph".

Track To Area (Pro Subscribers Only)

New in version 3.3.3, Pro users have the ability to convert a track to an area. In order to use this function, a Pro Subscription
must be enabled on the device. To convert a track, tap on the track to view its details, and select Convert To Area. You will
then be able to select whether to Convert the Area, Convert and Hide Track, Convert and Hide Area, or to Cancel the action.

47
Find By Coordinates Tool (Android)
Last Updated: Sep 22, 2017 02:12PM EDT

FInd by Coordinates can be used on any map to search for a specific location using known coordinates. This tool is ideal if
using the app for fieldwork to find where a specific known feature is in order to plot its location, or if using it for navigation
purposes (i.e. you know the coordinates for a local bakery and want to see where you are in relation to it). When a location is
searched, if it is found on the Map View, the crosshair will automatically zoom and center on that location.

To find coordinates:
1. Have the appropriate map open in the app
2. Tap the Tools icon (the wrench on the top right corner of the toolbar), then tap Find By Coordinates.
3. Enter a coordinate into the search bar, then tap OK.

*The search coordinate format depends on which coordinate display format was chosen.

48
Open in Google Maps Tool (Android)
Last Updated: Sep 15, 2017 12:33PM EDT

Use Open View in Google Maps to open the current map view in the Google Maps app.
To open the map view in the Google Maps app, you have to have the Google Maps app already installed. If the Google Maps
app is not installed, the map view will open in a mobile browser.

To use this tool, with any map open, tap the Tool icon (top right corner), followed by Open View in Google Maps. If Google
Maps is installed, and the zoom level selected is valid, Google Maps will open and display the same map view. This can be
helpful when looking for certain features that may not be on the map in Avenza Maps (e.g. restaurants), or for quick routing. If
the map is too zoomed out for Google Maps to open, you will receive a message that the view could not be opened - please try
zooming in further. If you do not have Google Maps installed, the view will be opened in a web browser instead.

49
Plot Photos Tool (Android)
Last Updated: Sep 22, 2017 02:31PM EDT

Plot Photos is an alternate way to create a placemark and add the photo. Rather then the traditional method of creating a
placemark and then manually adding the photo to it, Plot Photos uses geotagged photos to automatically create a placemark
based on the coordinates embedded within the photo. This is ideal if you are taking pictures (ensuring that they are geotagged
when you take them - most phones can do this and have it available within the camera settings), and then want to plot them on a
map afterward.

To plot photos:
1. Have a valid map open that covers the area required
2. Tap the Tools icon ( the wrench on the top right side of the toolbar), then tap Plot Photos.
3. If necessary, choose an app to complete the action (e.g. tap Gallery).
4. On the Photo Browser, select photos, and tap Import.
5. Placemark will be added at the location based on the geotagged photo.

Although only geotagged photos can be added to the map using the Plot Photos tool, you can still add photos from any location to an
existing placemark. On an existing placemark, tap the information icon of the placemark label, then tap Photos. Tap the + icon and
attach a photo from the Camera or Photo Library. You can attach multiple photos to a placemark. A number at the corner of the
photo on the placemark label indicates how many photos are attached. The first photo attached is the one displayed in the placemark
label.

55
GPS Settings (Android)
Last Updated: Sep 22, 2017 02:47PM EDT

The GPS Settings allows the user to specify various settings for GPS data collection, specifically in relation to GPS
tracks. The settings available include the ability to use only satellite fixes, horizontal accuracy, distance threshold, time
threshold, and the ability to ignore suspicious fixes.

Only Use Satellite Fixes

When enabled, the app will only record the GPS location fixes that come from a satellite source. Please note that with this
enabled, there may be gaps in data collected if a satellite signal can not be obtained. By default this setting is disabled.

56
Horizontal Accuracy
This setting will ignore any GPS location fixes that are greater than the distance specified. The default setting for this is 32m.
To change this setting, tap on it, and you will be able to select from the following options:
Keep all fixes: Allows location fixes of any accuracy. Suitable when you are not concerned about recorded track quality
8m: Allows for high accuracy location fixes only. Suitable for use outdoors when there are few obstructions (e.g. on a
hiking trail). This can result in gaps in data if there are lots of obstructions.
16m: Allows for normal accuracy location fixes. Suitable for use outdoors with partial obstructions (e.g. in a city)
32m: Allows for low accuracy location fixes. Suitable for use outdoors with lots of obstructions (e.g. dense urban
environment)

Distance Threshold
This setting specifies the distance that must be traveled from the previous point before a GPS location fix is recorded. The
default setting is 2m. To change this setting, tap on it and you will be able to select from the following options:

Keep all fixes: Records all location fixes regardless of distance traveled. This will result in a high volume of data, including
redundant fixes. Suitable for the highest accuracy required, but should only be used for short tracks in order to remain
manageable.

2m: Suitable for recording accurate tracks in most situations

50m: This will record fewer location fixes. Suitable for very long duration tracks with a reduced accuracy

Time Threshold
Once specified, this setting will record, at most, one GPS location fix in the specified time interval. The default setting is 2
seconds. To change this setting, tap on it and you will be able to select from the following options:
Keep all fixes: Records all location fixes regardless of the time interval. This will result in a high volume of data,
including redundant fixes. Suitable for the highest accuracy required, but should only be used for short tracks in order to
remain manageable.
2 seconds: Suitable for recording accurate tracks in most situations.
30 seconds: This will record fewer location fixes. Suitable for very long duration tracks with a reduced accuracy.

Ignore Suspicious Fixes

When enabled, this setting will ignore GPS location fixes that may be incorrect. Examples of these fixes include fixes that are
very old or fixes that are suddenly very far away (outliers). By default, this setting is enabled.

Reset to Defaults
This will reset all of the above settings back to their default settings.

57
General Settings (Android)
Last Updated: Oct 12, 2017 11:30AM EDT

General Settings provides various options to users to enhance the performance of the app as well as the debug the
app if required. Please note that the information below is reflective of v3.3.

Allow Usage Reporting

Anonymous reports are sent to the Avenza Maps team to improve app usage.

Specify Map Folder

When specified, maps imported from sources other than the Avenza Map Store will be saved to a user-specified folder. This
can help reduce the amount of space used on the device (if an SD card is selected as the specified folder). Please note that this
is for custom imported maps only and must be enabled and set prior to importing the map(s).

PDF Resolution on Import

Select the default resolution (DPI) used to process imported PDFs: 72, 150, 300 or Auto-detect. Auto-detect selects an optimal
resolution based on the physical dimensions of the map. This can help with display/scale issues.

Use Memory Aggressively

Toggle function that, when enabled, allows the user to use as much memory as possible when processing maps. This will
improve processing times for some maps but may cause Avenza Maps to crash.

58
Use Multiple Cores

Toggle function that, when enabled, allows the user to use multiple processing cores when rendering maps. This will improve
processing times for some maps but may base Avenza Maps to crash.

Clear Search History

Clear all values from the history sections in the search.

Debug Settings
Allows the user to access various settings and logs required when there are any issues with the app. Often requested by
Support when helping to resolve issues. This is also where the Map Store Settings are located.
