Q1. Define the terms Usability, Accessibility & Ergonomics.

Usability is the potential of a product, application or website to accomplish user goals. Accessibility is
the potential of a service, product, device or environment to serve and meet the needs of as many
individuals as possible. Ergonomics refers to the design of safe and comfortable products

Q2. Identify usability problems in the following devices:

• GPS/Navigation system

Efficiency: There may be problems with the GPS calculating the route as it may show a longer
route to get to destination but there may be a shorter route

• Tablets

Small keyboard or side buttons

Difficult to learn how to use

• Mobile Phones

The keyboard of a mobile phone is very small and as a result many novice users’ elderly people
or users with bad eyesight struggle to use it. Some users don’t really need all the special
features; they just need a basic device for calls and SMS messaging.
