POST- SURGERY AT HOME INDICATIONS AND

CONTRAINDICATIONS

- Keep the compressive dressing for 1-2h. Don't change it in the first 30 minutes. After this
interval, the initial dressing can be changed to a new sterile dressing. If local bleeding persists
after 1-2 hours, contact your doctor.

- Follow the prescription given by your doctor exactly. If anti-inflammatory / analgesic


treatment does not cover the symptomatology, DO NOT take ambulatory medicine BY
YOUR CHOICE. Contact your doctor for any change in treatment.
- Do not rinse the oral cavity for 12 to 24 hours
- Do not brush your teeth in the region concerned for 12 hours, or longer, if your doctor
has recommended you.
- Do not smoke for 24 hours.
- Do not drink straws for at least 24 hours.
- Alcohol consumption and smoking make local healing difficult.
- Consume liquids and foods at room temperature; Avoid extreme temperatures.
- You can apply locally, extraorally cold compresses in the first 12h.
- Follow the analgesic, anti-inflammatory and / or antibiotic medication recommended by
your doctor.
- In case of surgery in which the addition of PRF membrane or infiltration with i-PRF has
been used, avoid anti-inflammatory medication.
- Take anti-inflammatory drugs after meals.
- After the first 2-3 days postoperatively, a local-regional edema may appear. Perform
opening and closing movements of the mouth (mechanotherapy) of medium and repeated
amplitude
- In the first postoperative days you may notice the limitation of the opening of the mouth.
- Once oral hygiene is resumed, follow the recommended local periodontal treatment.
- In the first days after surgery, maintain a soft / semi-soft diet to avoid local trauma.
- Avoid trauma to the region of surgical interest.
- Do not disturb the suture threads placed.
- Avoid applying any device, instrument, object at the level of the operated region.
- Avoid foods or beverages that ferment - milk, apple, cider, beer for 24 hours.
- Do not perform the act of suggestion at the level of the surgical wound.
- In the case of the medication prescribed or administered with DEXAMETHAZONE, follow
a steady-state diet without salt, for 24 hours after the administration of the medicine.
- It is forbidden to use alcohol when following treatment with METRONIDAZOLE.
- At an interval of 7-10 days the suture threads will be removed.
- Go to the medical check-up on the day recommended by the doctor.
