Teal : Not an imam (Muslim priest) but seems like a “mangkukulam” plus shirtless pa sila (nudity
and magical/spiritual forces not glorifying Allah considered haram; haram pertains to any element
in art that is against Islam)
*actually, si sir lang nag interpret na mukha siyang mangkukulam, but even if that was depicted
as something positive like Babaylan, against Muslim pa rin kasi hindi naman din Babaylan ang
nag oofficiate ng Muslim wedding

Si Carlos “Botong” V. Francisco ay kinilalang Pambansang Alagad ng Sining sa Pintura noong


1973.

 Isa sa unang “Modernist artist” na bumalikwas sa “romanticism of Philippine scenes” ni


Fernando Amorsolo.
- Kasama niya sia Galo Ocampo at Victorio Edades at kilala sila sa tawag na “The
Triumvirate” na nagpabago sa larangan ng sining sa Filipinas noong namamayani ang
impluwensiya ni Amorsolo.
 Kilalang Muralist mula sa Angono, Rizal at tampok sa kanyang mga obra ay nagtampok
ng mga historikal, mga makabagong hulagway ng mga Filipino, mula sa kanilang mga
kaugalian at pagdiriwang hanggang sa mga pangkaraniwang tanawin at gawain sa kanilang
paligid.
 Nagtapos sa School of Fine Arts ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas.
 Nagtampok ang kaniyang sining ng disenyo at ritmo, makabagong idyoma sa pamamagitan
ng matitingkad na kulay ng karaniwang tao at pakurbadang linyang nagpapanagpo at
pumupuno sa bawat espasyo.
According to restorer Helmuth Josef Zotter, Francisco's art "is a prime example of linear painting
where lines and contours appear like cutouts."[3]

-together with Galo Ocampo and Victorio Edades known as " The Triumvirate"
-he did not follow the traditional style but developed a modernist style.
