Film review ( „Liar, liar“)

Whenever you think of a funny movie, the first person that comes to your mind is probably Jim
Carrey. Directed by Tom Shadyc, the comedy „Liar, liar“ firstly came out in 1997 but it is one of
the most viewed films of all time. We can't say that it has some special effects or that it's mind-
blowing or mesmerising, but the thing that attracts people the most is the how Jim Carrey
keeps the audience laughing and smiling from beginning to end.

The movie starts Jim Carrey in the role Fletcher Reed, the successful lawyer, who is too busy
with his job, so he’s unable to navigate between his son Max, played by Justin Cooper, and
office work. But apart of his job, he is the best at being dishonest. He always lies to Max, who is
so frustrated and disappointed and after his father forgets his birthday, his only wish is that his
dad can’t tell a lie for a whole day. Max’s wish is fulfilled and that’s when the real problems for
Fletcher actually start. He’s scared that he’s going to lose the upcoming big case, so he’s trying
to do everything to wipe out Max’s wish.

The thing that I liked the most about this movie is the acting and the characters. It is fascinating
how Jim Carrey keeps your attention through the whole movie with his faces and grimaces. He
has shown his funny side, but also there are many quotable sentences that he says. Maybe at
one point you get the feeling that the plot is disjointed and some things were a bit cliché, but
that’s probably because the plot is fast-moving from courtroom to the Max’s house. This light-
hearted comedy doesn’t have many cliffhangers or twists and turns. But, the portrayal of a lying
lawyer is the best thing you will see today. It is really unbelievable how many humor can fit in
only 90 minutes.

If you're sad or tired, this is the movie you should watch. It will make you laugh, maybe even cry
at one moment, but most importantly, you will get the message that film is trying to send you. Be
honest no matter what.It is really epic how one comedy can tell you such a big and important life
lesson.
