Are you ready to test your geography knowledge? What do you know about landforms, oceans,
continents, countries, and more? Here is your chance to prove your knowledge.
Preparing the Game:
1. Attach two file folders together by overlapping one side so you have three parts to glue the game
board to. Attach the game board to the three parts of the file folders, matching the spaces on the
board, trimming the pages if necessary to make them meet in the correct places.
2. Cut out the question cards. If they are printed on cardstock or printed on paper and laminated,
they will hold up longer, but they can be used just as easily if printed on regular copy paper. One set
of the question cards are special “Go to” cards and have “Go to …” on the bottom. The other
question cards have the names of continents written on the bottom. Separate the cards into groups
so that all of the “Europe” cards are together, all of the “Asia” cards are together, all of the “Go to”
cards are together, and so on, making a total of seven piles. Blank cards for each continent have
been provided so that families can add their own questions from their studies if desired.
3. Cut out the cards with pictures of the continents and place them beside the game board. You will
have a total of six of these piles. (There are seven continents, but since there are fewer questions to
ask about Antarctica, it is included with Australia and Oceania.)
4. Use one die and something such as beans or tokens from another game as markers.
5. Play continues in this way until everyone has had their first turn.
6. When it is the first player’s turn again, the player to his or her left must draw a card from the
stack for the continent the first player is on. For example, if the first player landed on a North
America space after his or her previous move, the question must come from the stack of North
America question cards. NOTE: If the space is a special continent space outlined in red, skip to #7.
If the player answers the question correctly, he or she can roll the dice and move. After leaving the
spoke that takes players from the center section of the board, players can move forward, backward, or
both on a turn. For example, if a player rolls a three, he can move forward two and backward one if it
helps him get closer to the space he wants to land on. If a player is on one of the spokes, he can
only move forward. After reaching the outer section of the board, a player can move around the
outside of the board or take a shortcut through the center to reach the continent he wants to land
on. If he happens to land on the center section, he must answer a question from the center section
card stack and go toward the continent as directed. Since this can help or hurt a player, he must
decide whether to take that chance on the shortcut. If at any point a player answers a question
incorrectly, he must stay where he is and answer a new question from that continent on his next
turn.
Please note: Scattered throughout the board are spaces with a world map on them. If a player
lands on this space, he can choose which continent he wants a question from.
7. When a player lands on a special continent space outlined in red, and answers the question
correctly, he may take a matching continent card. The player then moves back to the center section
without rolling the dice, and waits for his next turn. When his next turn comes, he answers a “Go to”
question and moves toward the continent as instructed if he answered correctly. It does not matter if
he already has that continent card; he must move in that direction to the outer portion of the
board where he can resume his journey to the next continent card he hopes to win. Each time a
continent card is won, the player must move back to the center section and start the process again
until one player has won all six continent cards.
If the player answers a question wrong while on a special continent space, he does not receive a
continent card and must move one space away from the special continent space. On his next turn,
he must answer a question correctly in order to roll and try again to land on a special continent
space.
The first player to win all six continent cards is the winner!
