MEDIA CIRCUS C2

Hi, my name is Seila and I am going shed some light on (to help to explain a situation)
the topic of the Media Circus. There can be no shadow of a doubt that the media
nowadays exercises tremendous influence on public opinion and it seems that over the
last few decades, we have seen a tendency of the media to sensationalise events in a
way that overshadows (appear more prominent or important than) other relevant
information. Off the top of my head ( without careful thought or investigation), if I had
to rack my brains (make a great effort to think of or remember something) for a
definition of the term media circus, I would say that it is a colloquial metaphor or
idiom, describing a news event for which the level of media coverage is perceived to
be excessive or out of proportion to the event being covered.
