FINAL Lesson Plan Template 2018-2019

One class period of time

Name Johnathan Ruggeroli

Grade Level High School (12)

Subject Area History

Introduction: Start by greeting the class, waiting for students to settle into their seating and
take attendance. Ask the class if there were any misconceptions or
misunderstandings that occured in the previous class that could be addressed
immediately. This should be expected to take 7 minutes.

Daily Reviews: For the general outline of my class, I will create a Piktochart that will include all of
the most major points to cover over a set amount of time. As the class
progresses, topics addressed will be shown on the Piktochart. Topics closer to the
top will be addressed first, while topics closer to the bottom will be addressed in
future classes. Using Piktochart, I will seek to demonstrate NEPF Standard 1,
indicator 2 by making connections between the earlier parts of the lesson to the
more recently covered material. Having all the biggest points on one image will
allow me to easily draw connections between events and explain how one event
impacted another. Using the questions posed by the class, I will refer to the
Piktochart and answer questions to create a better understanding. I should expect
to finish in 8 minutes.

Daily Objective: Using the whiteboard or a smartboard, I will write/post the daily objective to be
copied into notes. I will give a brief explanation of what I am expecting to
accomplish during the class. The students will have a good understanding of what
we are to cover in that one class period..This should take 3 minute.

Concept and Skill Following up with the Piktochart again, I will introduce the next main point. On the
Development and chart, I will have a number of points to hit that I will state ahead of time to aid in
Application: the formatting of notes. (Example: The Piktochart will have a handful of sections
that will be used as topic headers within the notes. This way, ideas and concepts
will be kept clear from each other and mitigate risk of confusion.) After this I will
deliver my Powerpoint/Google Slide Presentation. During this presentation, there
would be the use of video while notes are taken. This is in effort to meet the
requirements for NEPF Standard 2, Indicator 1 as it will be providing audio and
visual ways of learning. This is done in conjunction with the kinesthetic benefit of
writing or typing the information. The goal would be to allow effective notes to be
taken without having students worry about formatting. At set intervals during the
class year, students will be required to produce their notes for a notebook/digital
note check. This portion of the class should be expected to take 30 minutes

Guided Practice Class discussion focuses on the points made during the Slide presentation. This
(Teacher led): is an opportunity to clarify points made during the slide presentation if they had
not already been clarified. The goal of this section would be to hit points that were
not as clear to the students and make sure all members of the class are on the
same page. This should take 10 minutes.

Group Practice (Whole Students are then are to break into groups and set up access to Google
class or small groups): Hangouts so they can collaborate outside of school on a group project. Each
student will be assigned a part of the assignment, but the assignment can be
created in order to encourage students to discuss the best approach to the
assignment. No one student will end up with all the work or be able to get away
with not contributing. Students will be graded on their part of the effort. This is in
effort to satisfy Standard 3, Indicator 4 of the NEPF. This should take 20 minutes.

Independent Practice Reflecting on the notes, the class will be required to summarize briefly the main
(Alone): points of the notes and make connections between things introduced in the
lesson. This will be helpful in organization. Since students will be rewording the
notes, it will help them condense the information for memorization. This is meant
to be quick and should take 5 minutes.

Homework Google Classroom will be arranged that new homework assignments will
Assignments: automatically be made available to the students in line with the lessons and can
be adjusted in case of getting behind or ahead. Print versions of many
assignments will be available for students who do not have the ability to use
technology from home. The assignments will be made available for students to
pick up at the end of class. This should take no extra time from class.

Closure: At the tail end of the class, I will briefly show the Piktochart from the start of class
and show off the main points again and if time allows, briefly mention a little on
the next class’ instruction. This will take 5 minutes.
