Lesson Plan in Science 7

August 15-16, 2018

I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able:
1. To grasps information about features and capabilities of the light microscope.
2. To familiarize themselves with the functions and parts of a light microscope
3. To draw or sketch the parts of a light microscope and place its functions.

II. Subject Matter:

A. Topic: Pre-Test of Microscopy
B. Reference: High school Science Concepts and Teachers Manual/Guide, pages 85-89
C. Instructional Materials: chalk and chalkboard, video presentation, light microscope

III. Procedures

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Preliminary Activities

Good morning class! Good morning Ma’am Alcantara.

Is everybody present? Yes Ma’am!

That’s great! So arrange now your chairs and

kindly pick up all scattered things near you. (Students arrange their chairs and picked up
scattered things.)
I have a question. Just raise your right hand if you
to answer. What particular instrument would you
use if you wanted to visualize very large objects in
space?
Ma’am telescope.
Excellent, this instrument I believe is very much
familiar to all of you. Am I right? Yes Ma’am.

B. Motivation
How about an instrument that is used to see very
tiny objects? Ma’am microscope.
Well, let’s see if you’re correct.
I’m going to play a video about this instrument.
Take down all the important things that are being
discussed by the presenter.

C. Presentation
Bring out your assessment notebook and answer
pages 95-102. This serves as your Pre-Test to
assess your understanding of the parts and
functions of a light microscope.
Does everyone have an activity or assessment
notebook? Ma’am we don’t have.
Okay then you can use a one whole sheet
of paper and just paste it once you already
have it.
D. Discussion
What are the functions of the base and the arm of The base provides support to the microscope while
the microscope? the arm on the other hand supports the body tube
and it is where the microscope is held.
They are of different lengths.

Very good! How about the objectives?

Another good answer. What have you noticed The sizes of the openings differ.
when the presenter change the diaphragm
openings? The amount of light reflected also changes.

Obviously, another idea?

Absolutely right! Ma’am we have three namely; High Power

How many types of objectives does a microscope Objective, Medium Power Objective, and Low
have? Power Objective.

A microscope is an instrument used to see very

E. Generalization tiny objects and it consists of different parts
Anyone who can sum up our lesson for today. playing a vital role in order for the tool function
properly.
Excellent!

F. Practice
Let us see if you really have understood
the lesson.
Make a sketch of a light microscope and
put its parts.

IV. Evaluation
Identify the function of each part of the Ma’am, nosepiece- this is the part that holds two
microscope. or more objective lenses and can be rotated to
1. Nosepiece easily change power.
2. Stage clip
3. Eyepiece Ma’am the stage clip- holds the slides in place.
4. Objectives
5. Base Ma’am the eyepiece- is the lens, present at the top
and is used to see the objects under study.

The objectives- is the most important optical unit

that determines the basic performance/function of
an optical microscope

The base- provides support to the microscope

V. Assignment
Print out an image of a microscope together with
its parts and functions.
