The Challenge of the Christian Mission

“Whom shall I send and who will go for us?” A question from the powerful God who created heaven
and earth, the living creatures in the air, land and sea, and who can do everything at will. This
same God whom we address as the Mighty God asks “whom shall I send and who will go for us?”

Time can never tell when will God’s search for an available man be over. God is still looking for
men and women whom He can use to work in His vineyard. God’s mission to save lost souls from
the claws of hell has never changed. Millions of people today are dying without Christ and without
seeing even a single ray of hope. Countless millions today are marching to their doom, straight to
a Christ-less hell, to an eternal punishment from where there is no escape.

But what have some of the so- called Christians been doing? Nothing!! They are so busy wasting
a life freedom from eternal damnation. Materialism has become their modern motivation for living.
The once powerful enforcers of separation from the world system has embraced the popularity of
modern ecumenism.

Christians of today have been so much engaged with the affairs of this world that they have lost
tract of their mission, the mission to win the lost at any cost. Lost souls are bound to a literal lake
of fire. Million ask, “Where is hope?” Christian we know for a fact that hope can be found in
Christ alone. But if that hope cannot be made known to them, then what is the use of a hidden
hope? The world is seeking for light crying “Give us light”. The light we know is in the heart of
every believer of Christ waiting to be shed abroad. But what use is the light, if it is hidden under a
bushel?

Lost souls have already realized their need for a saviour who can lift them up out of sure
destruction. Their frantic search for their savior has led them to false messiahs who promise them
many things except salvation from destruction.

“Where is the savior?” We Christian hold the truth that the savior is the Christ who lives in our
hearts. But we hold the truth in vain. What use is the savior to those who will perish if we confine
him only in a secret chamber in our hearts?

Christian, we have the hope, we have the light, we have the Savior. We have the answer to the
problems of this hopeless world. God is looking for men and women who can boldly accept the
challenge and say, “Here I am Lord, send me”. Christians, let us wake up out of our dreamland of
freedom and utopia. Let us face the reality that many are still locked in the dark dungeons of sin
and despair. Let us lift up our spiritual eyes and see that the mission field is ready for the great
harvest. Let us focus our minds to the cause of Calvary which is the salvation of souls from
eternal damnation.

Time is running out. Therefore, it is not the time to sleep, but the time to seek. It is not the time
to rejoice but the time to weep for souls are dying without Christ. Once again, who is willing to
heed God’s call: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Christians, let us stand up, take
arms and face the challenge of the Christian mission.
