CANON 7

RULE 7.01

A lawyer shall be answerable for knowingly making false statement or suppressing a


material fact in connection with his application for admission to the bar

Explanation:

A person seeking to be admitted to the bar must show that he has all the qualifications
and non of a disqualifications prescribed by law

Every applicant for admission to the practice of law must be:

SECTION 2, RULES 138 of the RULES OF COURT

1. Citizen of the Philippines


2. Resident of the Philippines
3. At least twenty-one years of age
4. Person of good moral character
5. Must also show that no charges against him involving moral turpitude are filed or
pending in court

6. Possess the required educational qualification

SECTION 17, RULES 138 of the RULES OF COURT

7. Pass the Bar Examination
