THE PRECIOUSNESS OF GOD'S WORD

PSALM 19:7-11

INTRODUCTION: We truly believe that the Word of God is precious when we are in our
sincere appreciation and its due application in our lives.

QUESTIONS:
1. What is the evidence that the psalmist believed in the preciousness of God’s Word?
2. How did the psalmist declare the preciousness of God’s Word?

I. BY COMPARING THE SCRIPTURES WITH OTHER PRECIOUS THINGS.

A. SCARCITY OF THE SCRIPTURES - Psa 119:72; 119:125-127
1. THE PSALMIST APPRECIATES THE AUTHORITY OF THE SCRIPTURES- Psa.
119:72
2. THE PSALMIST APPRAISES THE ASSET OF THE SCRIPTURES- Psa 119:125-127

B. SECURITY OF THE SCRIPTURES - Psa 119:89

C. SWEETNESS OF THE SCRIPTURES -Psa 119:103

D. SUCCESS FOR THE ONE WHO FINDS THE SCRIPTURES - Psa 119:162

E. PRINCIPLE: Through everything around us may be changing, we ae to put our

faith in the Word of God, which will endure forever.

II. BY CHARACTERIZING THE SCRIPTURES AS IT IS RELATED TO MAN

A. BECAUSE THE SOURCE OF THE SCRIPTURES IS GOD
1. THE LIFE OF GOD- It teaches us how to live the physical and the
spiritual life that is described as abundant life.
2. THE LOVE OF GOD – It reveals the love of God by demonstrating it.
No one could define love for it encompasses eternity. We can
see it through its descriptions in the word of God.
3. THE LAW OF GOD- It reveals the limitations and liberties of life.
God’s law is a tool of God to introduce Himself to man, 9

B. BECAUSE THE SUPREMACY OF THE SCRIPTURES IS IN ITS AUTHORITY

1. BECAUSE IT IS ACCURATE.

2. BECAUSE IT IS ABSOLUTE.

3. BECAUSE IT IS AUTHORITATIVE.

The Word of God has the authority in your life. You need to submit to its
Authority:
Instruction, Testimony, Precepts, Command, Fear, Ordinances

C. BECAUSE OF THE SUBJECTS THAT THE SRIPTURES TEACH

1. THE SOVEREIGNTY AND SUPREMACY OF GOD.
2. THE SIN AND THE SEPARATION OF MAN FROM GOD
3. THE SALVATION OF MAN FROM THE PENALTY, POWER AND PROBLEM
AND PRESENCE OF SIN.
4. THE SAVIOR FROM SIN
5. THE SCRIPTURAL AUTHORITY
i. Perfect, ii. Trustworthy, iii. Right, iv. Radiant, v. Pure,
vi. Reliable
6. THE SANCTIFIED LIFE
7. THE SERVING LIFE
8. THE SECURITY OF SALVATION
D. PRINCIPLE: As people become more corrupt in their thinking, attitudes and
actions, we must continue to stand firm on God’s message in the Holy scriptures.

III. BY COMMANDING THE SAINTS TO KEEP THE SCRIPTURES.

A. MEMORIZE THE SRIPTURES - PSALM 119:11
B. MEDITATE ON THE SRIPTURES WORD - JOSHUA 1:8; PSALM 1:2
C. MARK THE SRIPTURES –ACTS 17:11
1. YOU MUST BE EXCITED AND EAGER TO RECEIVE THE WORD OF
GOD

2. YOU MUST EXAMINE AND SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES.

3. YOU MUST ENDURE AND BE STEADY IN YOUR STUDY OF THE

SCRIPTURES- Their consistency of Bible study.

D. PRINCIPLES:
To grow in wisdom and godliness we must meditate on the word of God regularly.
To help people understand clearly the message of salvation and spiritual growth
we must focus on communicating God’s revelation in scripture.

CONCLUSION
Through the comparisons presented by the psalmist; the characteristics of the Word
of God and the important commands in relation to the study of the scriptures, we have
established that indeed the word of God is precious.
Since God’s Word is precious let us allot the time to read, study, meditate and apply
the principles from God’s Word in our daily lives.
Let us declare the authority of God in our lives through our obedience and
submission to His commands and will.
The world does not read the Bible but they read our lives. Paul said that “You
yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read
by all.” 2Co 3:2
May we learn more to love and live the word of God in our homes, offices, work,
business, friendships and neighborhood.
