Orient Energy Systems (Private) Limited ensures the performance standard recognizes that the
pursuit of economic growth through employment creation and income generation should be
accompanied by protection of the fundamental rights of the workers during the project, our
workforce is a valuable assets and good relationship is a key ingredient in the sustainability of the
company. Orient also treat its worker fairly and providing them with safe and healthy working
conditions, orient promotes compliance with national employment and labor laws and protect
workers, including vulnerable groups such as children.

Human Resource Policies and Procedures

Typical Working Hours

 Orient adopted the normal working hours from 9:00 AM to 17:00 PM- for Office Hours

Project Site Working Hours

 Orient and it’s subcontractor staff working hours at project site will be 8:00 AM to 17:00 PM
Including Lunch & Tea break.

Orient approach in managing workers consistent with the requirement of IFC performance
standards and our national labor law 1934.

Maximum Number of Overtime

In principle every staff should complete their assignments within the office hours and avoid sitting
late in the office hours for overtime. Overtime restored to only when extreme necessity arises and
should not be taken as a routine practice.
Overtime Hours:

Maximum Overtime hours (Per Month) 52 hours

Regularity of Pay

Orient E n e r g y Systems (Pvt.) L t d . is designed to achieve consistent pay practices; all the
employees are paid on a monthly payroll. Additionally offers benefits to its employees according
to employee entitlement.

Monthly and daily wager will be paid as per the rule defined in factories labor act.

Provision of transportation to site and accommodation

Orient will identify migrant workers and ensures that they are engaged on substantially equivalent
terms and condition to non-migrant workers carrying out similar work

The accommodation services will be provided in a manner consistent with the principle of non-
discrimination and equal opportunity. Workers accommodation arrangement will be restrict
workers freedom of movement.

Orient’s responsibility for its employee to provide transportation to project site, project site to
home city.

Commitments to the principles of non-discrimination and equal


opportunity:

Orient will not make employment decisions on the basis of personal characteristics unrelated to
essential job requirement. Orient will base employment relationship on the principle of equal
opportunity and fair treatment and will not discriminate with respect to any aspects of the
employment relationship, such as recruitment and hiring (Including wages and benefits) working
condition and terms of employment, job assignment, promotion termination, retirement and
disciplinary practices. Orient also ensures to prevent and address harassment, exploitation,
especially in regard to women, these principle of non- discrimination apply to migrate workers
too.

Orient will carry out an analysis of alternative to retrenchment, if the analysis does not
identify viable alternative to retrenchment, a retrenchment plan will be developed and
implemented to reduce the adverse impact of retrenchment on workers (Collective
dismissals, cover all multiple dismissals that are a result of an economic, technical or
organizational reason or other reasons that are not related to performance or other personal
reason.

Orient also ensures that all workers receive notice of dismissal and compensation payments
mandated by labor law and collective agreements in a timely manner.

Prohibition of child labor or forced


labor

Child Labor

Orient will not employ children in any manner that is economically exploitative or interfere
with the child education or to be harmful to the child’s health or physical, mental, moral and
social development. Orient also identify the presence of all persons under the age of
18 and provision for the employment of minors, children under the age of 18 years will
not be employed in hazardous work.

Forced Labor

Orient will not employ forced labor, which consists of any work or service not voluntarily
performed that is obtained from an individual under threat of force or penalty, Orient also
convers any kind of involuntary or compulsory labor, such as bonded labor or labor
contracting arrangements. Orient will not employ trafficked persons.

Recognition of workers’ organizations

Orient will comply with the Labor law, where law substantially restricts workers organization,
Orient will not restrict workers from developing alternative mechanisms to express their
grievances and protect their rights regarding working conditions and terms of
employment.

Orient ensures not to seek influence or control these mechanisms, orient will not discourage
workers from electing worker representatives forming or joining workers organization of their
choosing or from bargaining collectively, and will not discriminate or retaliate against workers
who participate, or seek to participate, in such organization and collective bargaining.

Orient will engage with such workers representative and workers organization and provide
them with information needed for meaningful negotiation in a timely manner. Workers
organizations are expected to fairly represent the workers in the workforce.

Grievance Mechanism Followed by Orient as per IFC Standards

Orient Energy ensures the grievance mechanism to deal with most of the community issues that
are defined in IFC’s Performance standard and the requirements in relation to affected
communities
are clearly stated with regard to security
workers.

Orient will follow the five principles mentioned in IFC Grievance Mechanism for project.

1. P r o p o r t i o n a l i t y : Scaled to risk and adverse impact on affected communities.


2. Cultural Appropriateness: Designed taking into account culturally appropriate ways
of handling community concerns.
3. A c c e s s i b i l i t y : Clear and understandable mechanism that is accessible to all segments of
the affected communities at no cost.
4. T r a n s p a r e n c y and Accountability: To all stakeholders
5. A p p r o p r i a t e Protection: A Mechanism that prevents retribution and does not
impede access to other remedies

Disciplinary Practices

OES and its contractor treat all personnel with dignity and respect. The company shall not gage in
or tolerate the use of corporal punishment, mental or physical coercion, or verbal abuse of
personnel. No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed.
Health and Safety

OES and its contractor provide a safe and healthy workplace environment and will take effective
steps to prevent potential accidents and injury to workers’ health arising out of, associated with, or
occurring in the course of work, by minimizing, so far as is reasonably practicable, the causes of
hazards inherent in the workplace environment, and bearing in mind the prevailing knowledge of
the industry and of any specific hazards.

Rights to Privacy

Orient Energy Systems maintains appropriate protections to respect the personal privacy of
workers and to protect the confidentiality of personal information about them. Thus, individual
staff records and personal information, as well as proceedings of internal appeal mechanisms are
not disclosed outside the premises excluding to the extent permitted by the staff Instructions.

Orient does not disclose information relating to arrangements for preserving the safety and
security of individuals working and related to worker’s corporate records and information system.

Complying with National Labor Law and ILO Commitments

An Orient Energy system has been committed to comply the whole process mentioned above
with the National Labor Law and ILO Performance Standards.

Orient Energy Systems also commits to provide a written contract for each worker that includes
details on the employment relationship with the company detail, polices and procedure related
to labor and working conditions.

Safe and Healthy Work Environment Commitments

Orient Energy Systems also commits to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all
workers as per defined standards as per the project requirements.

Health Insurance & Group Life Insurance

All OES project staff deputed at site covered in accordance with company policy.

Orient’s Statement:
