A Site Environmental Management Plan(EMP) is a site specific plan developed to ensure that all

necessary environmental protection measures are identified and implemented.

The EMP document must contain the following:

1. Existing Situation

 Area physical profile

 Location

 Climate

 Geological characteristics

 Demography

 Existing infrastructure

 Utilities

 Transportation

2. Tourism Profile

 Natural resource base.

 Cultural resources.

 Market analysis.

 Tourism marketing.

 Transport facilities.

 Accommodation.

 Tourism services.

 Human resource development.

 Issues and impacts.

3. Plan

 Vision.

 Goals.

 Objectives.
 Strategies which include programs and projects.

 Site plan and zoning.

 Visitor management plan.

 Site activity management.

 Ecotourism business opportunities.

 Capacity building.

 Marketing and promotion.

 Institutional arrangements.

 Action plan.

 Monitoring and evaluation.

After finishing the EMP, the document is submitted by the DENR group to the Regional
Ecotourism Committee for review.

The ERC sends the document to the Protected Area Management Board, which issues
the approval for the EMP.

ECOTOURISM BUSINESS PLAN

Business Plan- is a tool for understanding how your business is put together, and has many uses:
monitoring progress, controlling your costs and sales and raising funds.

Ecotourism Business- has specific needs which should be incorporated into any new business plan or
development plans.

 Business plan is formulated by the local government unit and the private sector.

 And the sent back to the regional ecotourism committee for review.

 The business plan is again forwarded to the PAMB for approval.

The Content of an Ecotourism Business Plan are the following:

1) Executive Summary-this section should summarize all the important aspects of your business.

2) Product or Service Description-it aim to provide the reader with an understanding of the
industry, the owners, the business model and market.
3) Ecotourism Industry Analysis- provides the reader with information they need about
professional background and experience.

4) Marketing Strategy- set out your promotion plan, or a list of points which show how you will
sell your products and services.

5) Financial Projections- a forecast of future revenues and expenses.

6) Monitoring and Evaluation- use to assess the performance of the business.

Ecotourism businesses may be categorized into:

 Community-based ecotourism enterprises.

 Private concessions

 NGO Ecotourism enterprises

 Joint ventures by NGO, private sector and LGU

 Business ventures by minority groups.
