A Case Study: Atlanta’s Urban Forest

The recent urbanization of the countries surrounding the city of Atlanta resulted in broad
deforestation and forest fragmentation of the region. A development of the Urban Forest is
developed to combat the deforestation and forest fragmentation. Atlanta has trees in parks,
residential and commercial facilities. It has green infrastructure and greenery on trees and streets. It
also has agricultural buffers. The following are the impacts of the Atlanta’s Urban Forest:

Polycentric urban development: The case of Hangzhou


The case study discusses the effects of a polycentric development in Hangzhou, China wherein
the city has drastically expanded in different areas leading to non-centralized developments
primarily along road corridors. This was done with revisiting planning efforts done by the
government together with various market forces such as the relocation of industries.

A study of walkability with natural elements for urban regeneration: a focus on cases in Seoul, South

With environmental issues, such as pollution, being increasingly prominent factors for inclusive
urban planning of public open spaces, walkability concept was developed using examples of
pedestrian walkway-making initiatives. The role of nature-based solutions was considered in relation
to aesthetics, and social, and environmental characteristics (air pollution, oxygenation thru
greenery) to enhance a healthy lifestyle and social interaction and on reducing congestion.
