Simeon’s Canticle
(Manoling Francisco, SJ)
This simple but moving arrangement
for female soloist and mixed choir
beautifully sets to music the passage
in Luke 2: 29-32. It is appropriate
to sing this song during the Advent
season when the Church waits to
celebrate the birth of Christ.
The lyrics of the verses recall God's
promise to send His Son, Emmanuel,
to be the Light of the world.
The words and melody can help set a
reflective mood during personal
prayer as we prepare for Christmas,
or it can also be used as a psalm
or communion hymn during the
celebration of Mass.Simeon's Canticle
choir (SATB) Based on Luke 2: 29-32
