Day 2: Cocol Night: Kumustahan, Kapihan, Kuwentuhan “Inspired by the Heart to Heart Talk with the Cardinal,
Philippine Conference on New Evangelization (PCNE)”

Pakikilakabay, Pagsama, Pakikibahagi.

The ‘Kumustahan’ will be a sort of a ‘hang-out’ as we listen to the different stories of each guest. As we go on
with the stories the heart will be full so that the heart will be freer.

Introduction (Phase 1)

“The loving heart of Jesus embraces the youth, he shares in their pains and misery and rejoices in their
triumphs and joys”
-PCNE 6 (Heart to Heart Talk with the Cardinal)

-The hosts will introduce themselves in a very lively manner. (short stories about themselves, short
conversation about the theme)

-Followed by the transition going to the main focus of the program. (Jesus accompanying the youth and the
youth accompanying Jesus)

PS: The focus on the youth doesn’t mean that we neglect the other stages of life that make-up the whole of
the journey of life. We also acknowledge those who are not also young, who were young, once upon a time,
who continues walking with Jesus who is forever young.
-Cardinal Tagle

Introduction of guests (Phase 2)

-For this Kumustahan we will see five types of people in their journey with Jesus.

First are ‘Youth Ministers’ who in their regular schedules and day to day living have already inculcated the
service for God and their Parish Community.

Second are those ‘New in our Parish.’ We will ask them on what they have found out in the community, what
was it that draw them close to serving the Parish.

Third is a parent, the primary teachers of the youth, and we’ll ask them also how they view the youth of today.

Fourth is a student, who in her endeavors in the academic life, exerts effort to see God in the challenges
intellectual formation.

And lastly young professionals coming from our Parish, we will let them tell us on how they apply the learning,
the values and the call of being a Parish servant in the different areas that they are in.
PS: Prepare lang kung may brother.

<Then invite everyone if they are ready>

PS: The hosts should give wholesome and heart-touching comments on the answers of the guests in relation
to the cross and the journeying of Jesus and of the Youth, Make it lively po and minsan may light moments.

Guest 1: Youth Ministers ____________________

<Kumustahin muna ang mga guest, how they are feeling right now, casual talks>

-Do you want to say something about yourselves? <Interview type>

-When did you start serving the Parish? (Kindly tell stories of your beginnings the Parish, what was your first
impression sa Parokya, and what ministries did you join)

-What led you in joining/serving the Parish (Dito po papasok ang reflective side of the second question)

-Challenges, can you give instances on how you are challenged in the aspect of serving the parish, in your
workplace, in general living. How did your faith help you in overcoming and seeing the wider perspective of
things?

NB (For the host): Dito po papasok ang dimension of journeying of Christ with us even to the pains of

-With what you started in the Parish (Sa iyong paglilingkod, sa iyong gawain sa Parokya) How do you maintain
the fervor, the zeal for serving?

NB (For the host): Conclude with stating that ‘in the Parish may Pamilyang mauuwian, may ‘Taong-
may-puso’ .

Pareho kayo, you will inspire the young people.

<Transition to next guest>

Guest 2: New Parish Servants ____________________

<Kumustahin muna ang mga guest, how they are feeling right now, casual talks>

-Do you want to say something about yourselves, anong nararamdaman mo ngayon? <Interview type>
(You can elaborate by telling the story on how you were led to the
From the day you

-What was your first impression, first encounters sa Parish? (stories)

Parokya?)

NB (For the host) : An encounter with Jesus should lead to change, should lead to love. With that

<Give a friendly reminder to everyone> Kung ano ang dasal, siyang asal.

-How about with relationships, the new friends that you met in the Parish, ano ang impact sa iyo nito?

NB (For the host): Dito papasok ang ‘kilig factor’ sa pag-se-serve, na ang nagpapakilig, ang nagbibigay
dahilan sa pag-se-serve ay walang iba kundi si Hesus, your primary relationship in the Parish.

-Now, what are your plans ngayong Parish server ka na? Do you plan to change anything? Do you plan to excel
in anything?

<Thank the second guest, transition to the third one>

Guest 3: Parents ____________________

<Give a special introduction about the parent. She will tell us on how she guide, minister and walk with the
young especially with their children; using her own perspective.>

-Kindly introduce yourself po. (Gradually, please introduce your family as well, as a mother, as the primary
teacher of your children)

-Kumusta po ang pagiging isang nanay. (The positive thing of being a mother. The challenges of being a
mother.)

-We would like to hear.

-Active po kayo sa Parokya, how does being active in the Parish, in your community affects your relationship
with your family, especially with your children. Gaano kahalaga ang Diyos, ang pananampalataya sa
paghuhubog ng mga anak?

NB (For the host): Dapat maipakita ng host, in the commentaries, na through the parents, nakikilakbay
si Hesus sa mga kabataan.
The Nazareth experience.
image of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.)

That the Nazareth Experience should continue until now in every family.

-In your experience po, ano ang challenges ng mga kabataan na nakikita niyo po? And as a mother, how do
you act on it, you respond on it.

NB (For the host): Conclusion and transition to the fourth guest. Magandang maipaalala na ang ating
mga magulang, mga guro at mga elders, their primary goal is for our good, to make us a saint, and that
will happen through our relationship with our parents.

End with this for the third guest, pertaining to the youth audience (Or other similar words) : We
youth, we need authenticity, real people. The first words of Jesus in the Gospel were 3 words, ‘Come
and See.’ The youth need to hear our elders, our parents, our mentors, saying ‘Come and see.’ Come
and enter my life, invade my privacy, enter my home, sit around my dining table, eat my bread, drink
my wine, let’s talk together, heart to heart, face to face. They need authentic people, real
relationships, we are to mirror to the youth the love of God. And hoping that this can be primarily seen
to our parents and our families and even our relationships.

<Transition to fourth guess>

Guest 4: Student ____________________

-Kumusta? Please tell us something about yourself.

-Kumusta ang pag-aaral, how are you challenged as a student and at the same time as a Parish Servant?

Considering
that the school is a diverse community.

-Upon hearing the first three guests, masasabi mo ba na mahalaga ang integral formation na ibinibigay ng
pamilya, parokya at ng paaralan?

NB (For the host): Inculcate here yung kahalagahan ng mga katagang “That Christ be formed in us” , na
maraming factors para maisagawa ito. And it is good to take note na ang primary mentor is none other
than God, the Holy Spirit. Andito yung pakikilakbay ng Diyos sa atin. Ang tanong, willing ba tayo
makilakbay? Are we willing to learn?

Willingness and openness.

-With your school life and Parish, madali bang mabuhay with that kind of identity? And with that Possible kaya
na until graduation, until you work, madala at mapanindigan ang identity na ito?

NB (For the host): Here enters the transition to the fourth guest. Mission in your workplace.
Guest 5: Young Professional ____________________

-Kindly introduce yourself.

-Please tell us something about the time when you are serving sa Parish, what are the lessons that you’ve
learned in serving at ano ang naging impact sayo nito?

-Please tell us something about your career (Life story, paano mo ito na-attain at kumusta ka ngayon rito)

-Now that you are in your workplace, is it challenging to live-out those that you have learned in the Parish,
considering the different factors that bombard our society.

NB (For the host): Our Young Professionals are sort of a missionary in the workplace that they are in,
due to the formation that they received in their years of serving in the Parish.

Now Christ sends them in the unique areas that they are in.

-How can you be a missionary in your own work place.

All in one/Final hang-out (Phase 3)

<All the guests will now be asked with these final quetsions>

We have established different things in this ‘Kumustahan’ and it is good that we extract its values. We’ll ask
them one by one.

-With the urgent concerns facing our youth today (Mental Health, bullying, family problems) may I ask you,
based on your experiences, what is the pressing one, that you want to say something about?

Parish? Sa school? Sa mga ginagawa mo?

Final statement from our guest (Phase 4)

We’ll ask our guest to complete the statement:

“The youth is___________ but__________”

To the audience we’ll ask the to answer the question:

Ano ang mga Krus mo sa buhay na inihihingi mo ng gabay at pagsama ni Hesus?

Ending: My dear friends, this is ‘Kumustahan’ they have spoken from their hearts, and they have led us to
God’s heart. God who is love, who is the hope of the young, of all of humanity and of all creation. Thank you
very much.
