How Climate Change Affect Water Resources in the Philippines?

Climate change refers to the abrupt change in the average weather patterns of the
Earth. This is undoubtedly one of the biggest crises the world faces today. The impacts
of this phenomenon are very alarming for it is faster than estimated and this can no longer
be ignored according to the scientists. The Philippines is considered one of the countries
that is expected to be vulnerable especially when it comes to water resources. The
occurrence of extreme weather conditions, such as droughts and floods, have serious
implications for the country’s water resources. Last year, 2019, the country hasn’t been
experienced rainfall events, which have brought to little or not enough storage of water in
the major water reservoirs. Philippines also experiences extreme droughts as one of the
implications of climate change. The officials are concerned of the intensifying of El Nino
events and this phenomenon also leads to water scarcity.

Climate change cannot be stopped. It is happening right now. We, people in this
planet, must contribute in preventing this phenomenon in causing more serious
implications such as water resources scarcity crisis we face today.
