Emotions Encouraged me to Take Action
I was faced with a nerve-racking exam, I felt a lot of anxiety about whether I would perform
well and how the test would impact my final grade. Because of these emotional responses, I
decided to study. This particular emotion gave me the motivation to take action and did something
positive to improve my chances of getting a good grade.
When I felt down-hearted, I was also inclined to take certain actions in order to experience
positive emotions and minimize the probability of feeling negative emotions. For example, I sought
out social activities or hobbies that provided me with a sense of happiness, contentment, and
excitement. On the other hand, I tried to avoid situations that might potentially lead to boredom,
sadness, or anxiety.
