Intersubjectivity
IN ONE WORD
I would say it is SOLIDARITY!
This is how I described Gabriel Marcel’s Philosophy of Communion, the concept
of oneness. Nobody lives in this world just for one’s self because as they say “No man is an
island, and no man can stand alone”. In this period of 21st century in which advancements are
everywhere, I can say that the Marcel’s philosophy plays a vital role in rekindling man’s self and
his soul.
As Herman Melville says, “We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers
connect to us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions
run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.”
IN OTHER WORDS
“A Broken World” means the separation of man from values. Values that we
consider as stepping stone for humanity. Indeed, before is not already the same as today, gadgets
and modern technologies come out like mushrooms. These technologies steal the values from our
youth who supposed to be are the hope of our Motherland. This kind of phenomena needs to be
transcend. It is by nature that a human being must be able to realized his self-worth in line with
values.
“I have a body” is different from “I am my body”. The body is just the vessel but
the spirit is the machine that enables the body to feel the right from wrong. A human being must
know the reason of his very existence. A concrete example for this is the longing of a person to
uphold himself as a person with dignity. No matter what job an individual is in to the important
thing is he feels dignified and respected.
According to Leo Buscaglia, “Too often we underestimate the power of touch, a
smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of
which have the potential to turn life around.” This is what we miss when we disregard
intersubjectivity. Each one of us is interconnected with each other. We cannot give what we do
not have. Respect so that we will be respected. These are the lines that reflect to us being human.
Therefore, Gabriel Marcel’s philosophy serves as a linkage between the inner self
and the mind. The decision of doing something good for the benefit of one another. Sharing is
the true sense of it. Intersubjectivity argues that each thought community shares social
experiences that are different from the social experiences of other thought communities, creating
differing beliefs among people who subscribe to different thought communities. These
experiences transcend our subjectivity, which explains why they can be shared by the entire
tought community.
Consequence Comes After Your Actions

In the beginning, man was already destined to be born as libertarians. It was marked
invisible in our hands, the word FREEDOM. FREEDOM is just a word if you look at it literally,
but if we go beyond it was a big responsibility of individuals. Having the sweet taste of liberty,
sweet as honey. Humans have the power to break the chains and walls that hinder our doings.
We can do what we wish to do and make our own decisions. We can be anything and no living
creature have the rights to stop us or hold us from doing something but every actions we act
there is a great consequences we will face. In short,
#WeCanActFreelyButConsequencesFollowsAfterIt. Sight for example, today is a high tech
generation. Everywhere you can see technologies were being placed, even kids know how to
operate cellphones.
Cellphones do have advantages and disadvantages, It’s up to you if you use it aggressively and
take the risk. Our rights to liberty must involve critical thinking thus, humans born to have free
will, but he must use his mind to think logically for the consequences he might face after the
actions he have done. So base on the one philosopher “Gabriel Marcel” If I am going to choose
I’d like to live with someone else rather than being alone. Because I think living with someone
means you will also share your life with them. Because as we all know we can’t just live with our
own we need the help of others if you are alone then you are not living your life here on Earth
happily. We need somebody, someone who we can lend on in any aspects of our life living alone
is ok but do you think you will be happy? Everyone of us are intend to be with someone being
alone is like a suicide and living with yourself is hard. But many people think that is okay living
by your own because you can do what you want, there is no judgement and have no turbulent.
But have you ever think that doing what you want with someone is more happy and fun. Because
of their judgement you are now became a good version of yourself. That is why I’d rather choose
to live with someone that I can depend on. All of the above statement give you an illusion of
freedom. Freedom is Freedom has no direction. Freedom has no rule book. “Freedom is Without
Direction”. Even the human body is limited when it come to exploring nature. We can walk with
swim but we cannot fly. Nature has given us complete freedom but at the same time it has bound
us gravity. But, nature has offered us the maximum amount of physical freedom. No other species
in nature has been given the liberty to taste the high amount of physical freedom. Only humans
have the to power to manipulate and play with nature physically. True wisdom is limiting
yourself physically by the laws of nature but at the same time not forgetting the extent of one’s
freedom. You can commit limitless sins of outside your parents or partners shadow, limiting
yourself is a sign of gratitude towards them. Similarly, limiting yourself by the laws of nature is a
act of maturity. Only mental Freedom is limitless, we are not limited by nature Mentally. The
only Shackle of mental slavery is “Thoughts and Emotions”. Thoughts and emotions are driven
by information, experience and memory. Thought is a shackle for the mind and emotion is a
shackle for the soul. Intelligence is the only tool to break this shackle. When we go of the
“Illusion of thought and emotion”, only then we truly start exploring the “meaning of stillness”.
“stillness is limitless”. This is why Celibacy and meditation is the last refuge of a dying Human
Spirit.
