Answer the Questions

When initially searching for a game to use for this assignment, there were a multitude of
choices. I am not very interested in the 'war' games or 'shooter' type of games, so when I saw
the description of this game, it peaked my interest. It seems to be more of an
exploration/escape type of game with a storyline. I think I will like the need for strategy and
problem solving skills in order to progress in the game.

An interesting element of this game is that it is in 'black and white' (film noir), lending to a bit of
a 'sinister', or 'creepy' type of atmosphere. This may also prove to be a detriment after a bit of
time playing, as it may become monotonous and too bland.

In order to progress, I will probably need to move through different rooms or areas in order to
find clues, solve puzzles, interact with other characters (either to gain information or to avoid
'apparitions'). There is a progression, according to the description, one needs to find 'matches'
in order to illuminate the next section. One will probably need to solve the puzzles on one level
in order to progress to the next one. Activities may be timed, and if not solved within a certain
time, the game may end, and you may have to restart at a certain point previous.

In order to play this game, the first thing I will need to learn is the objective, or what my
ultimate goal is (how will I know when I 'win', or when I have completed the game). The next
thing I will need to know is how to achieve said objective. I will need to become familiar with
the controls, how and where to move the character, interact with the environment, use tools,
search for items, etc. I will need to know when I have 'won' the game, or completed the story.

In terms of other games I have played, it may be similar in objective (solve puzzles and tasks in
order to gain clues and escape the room/house). It will probably be a 'point and click' type of
interface, or else it may require controls from the keyboard (arrow keys and space bar,
perhaps?).

Session Fieldnotes

Although a bit cliché, this game appears to set up an intriguing atmosphere and storyline having
been drawn all in black and white, set in an abandoned mansion. Based on a small description,
and other 'escape' type games I have encountered, the style seems to be a 'point and click'
type game with the ultimate goal of completing a series of levels and finding the exit (end of the
game) through a variety of problem-solving and puzzle tasks.
