[Numbering the Five Positions VAT Question 1: Have you noticed that no matter what key you are in, every note of that Key is available in each position and that some notes are repeated? ‘This means that no matter where you are on the neck, your left hand is covering all the modes and chords of a key all at oncel Check out the fingerboard charts on pages 144-146. Question 2: ‘Are you aware that each of the five positions has a specific shape and that the positions overlap one another by two frets? ‘The fingerboard charts below show the specific shape for each of the five positions. The arrange- ment of the charts shows that the notes played on the last two frets of one position are the same as those played on the first two frets of the next position. These charts show an exploded Position 7-1 view of the key of G (Ft) major.
