Final Evaluation:

Altogether I’m happy with the whole Kingdoms of Valour unit. My favourite part of the whole unit
was creating the castle. The bit I found the most difficult was when we had to make and animate the
characters. It was the hardest bit in my opinion as I had never done anything like that and using the
software Adobe illustrator was completely new to me. The target audience was all ages. I think I
managed to achieve this as I have the adult aspect with swords and dragons (also could apply for
teenagers) and the child aspect with it being cartoony and colourful.

When making the music I did find it difficult as the software we used didn’t offer a lot of variation of
different sounds to use. It was very basic and easy to understand but you needed to have a ‘musical
ear’ to make a good piece of music. I wasn’t happy with my music, but I felt that it sort of fitted with
the time the game was made for – Medieval era.

When editing the advert, I found it easy as it’s what I enjoy doing and I understood how to use
Premier Pro. We were meant to use Adobe After Effects, but I didn’t understand how to use it. So, I
used Adobe Premier Pro and ended up with the same results as if I was using Adobe After Effects. In
the advert I made it so the video zooms in to the O of ‘of’ and shows the castle spinning. I did find
that making the video zoom in on the O was harder than I expected. However, after some help from
other class members and the teacher, I managed to make it work and I’m happy with the end result.

My least favourite part of the whole unit was making the character. I found that using Adobe
Illustrator was really difficult and I didn’t enjoy using it. I found that the instruction we had to follow
were very unclear and confusing. For example, where to find certain tools the instructions would skip
steps and just assume that we knew what we were doing. I had trouble with making the character
and when it came to animating the character, it messed up and detached the head from the body,
meaning I had to make the character all over again.

Altogether I’m really happy with the advert. There’s only one thing I would change and that is when
the video zooms in through the O, there is a little bit of a black pixelated line- which sort of ruins
what I wanted to do. If I had zoomed it in more the castle would have been pixelated.
