All EPA-Approved methods have specification criteria built into their
procedural steps. When an approved or accepted EPA method has

been packaged by Hach from the EPA reference method as a test
method that meets or exceeds these specification criteria, these
methods are deemed to be equivalent for use in EPA compliance
monitoring (40 CFR 136.6). EPA does not normally issue equivalence
letters of packaged reference methods. Hach maintains the
formulation, procedure, and data demonstrating equivalency and is

HACH TECHNICAL TRAINING
HACH TECHNICAL
HACH DIFFERENCE
TRAINING CENTER
Where participants from all professional backgrounds
can benefit from educational, hands-on experience.
Anyone can push buttons on an instrument. But a
guided exploration of the “why” behind analytical
routines can help operators build greater confidence
in their understanding of the instrumentation and the
chemistries, in their ability to perform their own
analytical tests, and in the quality of their test results.
That’s the whole purpose behind the Hach Technical
Training Center (HTTC)—to help participants explore the theories behind their analytical routines, master
various laboratory techniques, and return to their jobs with increased understanding and confidence. By
employing a hands-on approach to teach users more about their instrumentation, Hach Technical Training
Center classes make for an invaluable resource in operator and analyst education.
State-Approved Training
HTTC offers state-approved classes for continuing education credits in many states. Workshops cover a variety
of topics in water treatment including:
• Laboratory Skills
• Process Instrument Verification
• Distribution Monitoring
• Simplified Wastewater Analysis
• Chlorine Testing
• And more!
Classes are small and include a balance of lecture, classroom demonstration, and hands-on experience with
Hach instrumentation. Instructors for each class have extensive experience in instruction and water analysis.
Class offerings, schedules, and locations are available at hach.com/training. If you are interested in having
classes taught at your facility, contact us about incentives for hosting Hach State-Approved Training classes.
Customized Training
In addition to our scheduled classes, HTTC also offers customized training which is designed for your individual
needs and taught at your location or at the Hach Company in Loveland, Colorado. For information and pricing,
call 800-227-4224 x2344 or e-mail: httc@hach.com.

HACH SOLUTIONS: WASTEWATER
HACH DIFFERENCE
Why overtreat?
Simply set your process control limits and let RTC do the rest.
Hach’s off-the-shelf Real-Time Control (RTC) Systems adjust treatment processes in real time, keeping your
facility compliant while reducing treatment costs. Controlling your process has never been so simple.
PHOSPHORUS
The RTC-P optimizes the phosphorus removal processes by adjusting
chemical dosing in real time through the continuous measurement of
phosphate concentration and flow, allowing you to maintain
consistent effluent phosphorus values and enhance your chemical
phosphorus control system for unprecedented chemical savings.
NITRIFICATION
Designed specifically for continuously-aerated biological wastewater
treatment plants, the RTC-N uses both an open and closed-loop
controller that collects influent and effluent ammonia concentration,
flow rate, mixed liquor suspended solids and temperature to calculate
the optimal DO set-point necessary to control your aeration system
based on your desired effluent ammonia set-point.
NITRIFICATION/DENITRIFICATION
Designed specifically for oxidation ditches and sequencing batch reactors,
the RTC-N/DN optimizes nitrogen elimination by determining optimal times
for nitrification and denitrification based on the continuous measurement of
ammonia and nitrate concentrations. The system assesses absolute measured
values and the rate of change of the ammonia and nitrate measurements.
SLUDGE
Designed specifically for use in sludge thickening devices (e.g. belt, gravity,
dissolved air floatation or drum thickeners), the RTC sludge modules
automatically adjust a desired specific polymer dosing rate based on the
measured influent total suspended solids (TSS) concentration and feed flow
rate. To meet exactly your targeted TSS concentration a feedback controller
based on the TSS measurement in thickened sludge can be activated
