Dear Jacob,
It was very nice to hear news of you. Since we can’t meet up, there are a couple of things
I am eager to write and advise you to think over.
Keep in mind that going straight into a permanent job isn’t something you must be afraid
of. Not only do you gain experience but you also start networking and making friends
with those who could well help you get promoted. Having said that, if you decided to
stick to the idea of starting your career now, you’d miss on a chance to unwind, which I
find outrageous as I do believe you deserve to have some time off.
There are still other options such as changing a few different jobs. If you do so, by 2021
you’ll have come across lots of professionals. The most fascinating thing about getting to
know them is that they might tell you stories about their working lives. No doubt it’ll
help you set your heart on a job you haven’t thought about before. Even so, it’s quite
possible you’ll spend time in vain, complete lots of tasks you aren’t meant to do.
Why don’t you simply try travelling overseas? Having taken a gap year, I must admit
it’s the most unique, unearthly experience a one can have. Had I been wiser, I would have
wandered around Europe longer. The reason why you need to do it is simply to enjoy
yourself. Believe me, adulthood is tough; don’t hurry up to take on heavy workload, call
your friends and visit every bar you see. Mind you, if you go out regularly, drink too
much and too often, you’ll be likely to end up being an alcoholic.
Jacob, we are good buddies, I’d never recommend you something I wouldn’t do myself.
Good luck with the decisions and see you soon.
All the best,
Mike
