Unit : 13 “What is the weather like?”
Main Topic: weather ,months
Aims:
 To give the students practice in speaking about the topic
 To practise pronunciation
 To practise listening,writing
 To learn new words and expressions

Aids: textbook,cassette ,practice book,handouts,flashcards,cardboard chart

STAGE 1: PRESENTATION
Activity 1 –warmer
Estimated time 3 minutes
Aims:-to capture students` attention
Procedure: the teacher have a discussion with the students about weather in Romanian
language.
Interaction: teacher-students

Activity 2 Listening and speaking


Estimated time 10 minutes
Aims -to learn the new words
- to practise pronunciation
Procedure: the teacher presents the students some flashcards with the new words ,the
students repeat them in chorus, and write them in their
notebooks:windy,rainy,cold,hot,sunny,cloudy,wet,warm,snowy,foggy.
Aids: text books,flashcards,board
Interaction: teacher-students ,student-student

STAGE 2 : PRACTICE

Activity 3 reading
Estimated time 10 minutes
Aims – to give the students practice in reading
Procedure: the students read a poem from the text book and they try working in pairs to
memorize it. “Rain on the house, Rain on the boat,
Rain on the tree, Rain on the sea,
Rain on the little bird Rain on the little fish
But don`t rain on me! But don`t rain on me!
Aids : students` books
Interaction: student-student
Possible problems: students may become noisy but the teacher will be ready to calm the
atmosphere.

Activity 4 listening
Estimated time 5 minutes
Aims – to practise listening comprehension
- to practise pronunciation
Procedure:the teacher plays the cassette and the students listen and repeat the months of
the year
Aids: cassette and text books
Interaction: native speaker-students, student-student

STAGE 3 : USE

Activity 5 reading , speaking


Estimated time 5 minutes
Aims: -to practise speaking and reading
Procedure:the students are asked to do an exercise from their textbook about weather in
different countries.
Aids: textbooks
Interaction: student-student ,students-teacher

Activity 6 Writing
Estimated time 3-4 minutes
Aims : to practise writing
to use the new words and expressions
Procedure:the students do a writing activity from their textbook about weather in
Romania
Interaction: student-student,teacher-students

Activity 7 speaking and drawing

Aims: to use the new vocabulary


Estimated time 2-3 minutes
Procedure: the teacher has prepared a chart for a week ,the students have to complete it
daily ,drawing the weather symbol according to the weather outside,at the end of the
week they will count the sunny,cloudy,foggy days .
Aids: chart,coloured pencils
Interaction: student-student

Activity 8 reading and drawing


Estimated time 5-10 minutes
Aims - to entertain the students
- to consolidate the knowledge acquired during the lesson
Procedure : the students draw what they are asked on the handouts,they get different
handouts with different kinds of weather. It`s cloudy and rainy.
It`s sunny .It`s summer.
It`s spring,it`s rainy.
It`s snowy and cold.

Ending the class : the teacher collects all the handouts and groups them by season.
