GES Declares Semester Break for All

SHSs, With Effect From Feb 28 Until

The Management of the Ghana Education Service has declared a semester break for all
Senior High Schools (SHS) throughout the country with effect from February 28th until
March 4th, 2020.

GES explained that this will mark the end of the semester for all SHS students with the
exception of Form 2 Gold students.

Form 2 Gold students will resume school on March 4th and will be in school until May
8th, 2020 to complete their first semester. However, there will be a short break for the
form 2 gold students but they will resume on May 12th to begin their second semester
which will run straight uninterrupted.

On the contrary, all students are to re-open school on March 4th except for Form 1 Gold
students who will begin their second semester on the 12th of May 2020.

Dates for the second semester are as follows:

A. Form 3 Students: will re-open school on 4th March with no break until they complete
their WASSCE in June 2020.

B. Form 1 Green: will resume on 4th March and break on 8th May 2020

C. Form 2 Green: will re-open on 24th July and break on 28th August 2020

D. Form 1 Gold: will resume on 12th May and break on 28th August 2020

Single Track Students who have been in school will also re-open on March 4th, 2020.

However, single track students will enjoy a 2 -week break during Easter to allow
teachers to rest and enjoy the same number of holidays as all SHS teachers.
