1.

Define the following terms:

a. Communication Plan
-A communication plan is a policy-driven approach to providing stakeholders with
information. The plan formally defines who should be given specific information,
when that information should be delivered and what communication channels will be
used to deliver the information.
-The communications planning process concerns defining the types of information
you will deliver, who will receive it, the format for communicating it, and the timing
of its release and distribution. It turns out that 90% of a project manager’s job is
spent on communication so it’s important to make sure everybody gets the right
message at the right time.

b. Implementation Plan
-Used as a support device for your strategic plan, an implementation plan maps out
how to bring your strategic plan to life by breaking it into identifiable steps, where
each step is assigned a to team member to complete on a set timeline. Strategic
planning is done on an organizational level, dictating the direction of the company
strategy and allocating resources to make that strategy come to life. Thus, the
implementation plan traces the edges of that, mapping out how to best implement a
strategic plan from the outset, and how to effectively manage it as it gets put into
place.

c. Change Plan
-A change management plan defines activities and roles to manage and control
change during the execution and control stage of the project. Change is measured
against the project baseline, which is a detailed description of the project’s scope,
budget, schedule, and plans to manage quality, risk, issues, and change. During the
execution and control stage, changes may require one or more revised project
baselines to be issued. A change management plan defines activities and roles to

d. Risk Plan
-Uncertainty is something that cannot be avoided. Risk management can help
project designers and managers to anticipate the potential risks before the
beginning of the project and therefore, avoid being hit with shock and panic when
something unexpected happens.
-Managing risks on projects is a process that includes risk assessment and a
mitigation strategy for those risks. Risk assessment includes both the identification
of potential risk and the evaluation of the potential impact of the risk. A risk
mitigation plan is designed to eliminate or minimize the impact of the risk events—
occurrences that have a negative impact on the project. Identifying risk is both a
creative and a disciplined process. The creative process includes brainstorming
sessions where the team is asked to create a list of everything that could go wrong.
All ideas are welcome at this stage with the evaluation of the ideas coming later.

2. What are the different types of construction contract in the Philippines? Explain each
 Lump sum
-This is the most basic form of agreement between a supplier of services and a
customer. The supplier or contractor agrees to provide specified services for a
specific price. The owner then agrees to pay the price upon completion of the
work or according to a negotiated payment schedule. In developing a lump sum
bid, the builder will estimate the costs of labor and materials and add to it a
standard amount for overhead and the desired amount of profit.
 Unit price
-In this contract, the work to be performed is broken into various parts, usually
by construction trade, and a fixed price is established for each unit of work. For
example, painting is typically done on a square foot basis. Unit price contracts
are seldom used for an entire major construction project, but they are frequently
used for agreements with sub-contractors. In a unit price contract, like a lump
sum contract, the contractor is paid the agreed upon price, regardless of the
actual cost to do the work.

3. a. what is the different bidding and tendering?

Bid – an approach to a client in order to gain significant new or repeat business. Bids, by
their nature, involve staff from across the whole breadth of one or more organizations.
The Bid Manager needs to be able to interact with many types of specialists – from
technical to legal, finance, HR and senior management, and will need to know their
roles, responsibilities, and what they can and cannot be asked to deliver. The term
“bid” or “bidding” can also relate to the documented Offer submitted in response to a
request or invitation to tender. The ‘bid’ will then be evaluated against a set of criteria
that are described in the request or invitation to tender.

Tender – The term “tender” is often used interchangeably to the term bid. However,
“Bid” is increasingly being used by the offerer (the supply side) and the term “tender”
used on the procurement side (the buyer).
