DIVERSITY IN ORGANIZATION

Summary:-

 The diversity is the change in the personal traits like gender,race,values, religions,colour
etc. Which effects the performance of the emoloyees and organization environment.
Mostly organizations are highly diversified. And this chapter demographic characteristics
of U.S workforce is described US work force is diversified today.
 Than there are two levels of diversity surface level diversity which is easy to percieve and
understand examples of surface level diversity is race,gender,age etc. Than the deep
level diversity which is more difficult to understand and percieve by individuals and
managers like values, personality and religion etc
 After that is discrimination which is that we allow our behaviour to be influence by
stereotypes about groups of people. Unfair discrimination is harmful to the employees
and for organization like reduced productivity, turnover of employees etc. There are
types of discrimination sexual harrasment, intimidation, insults, exclusions etc
 Biographical characteristics are objective and easily obtain from personal records such as
gender, race, tenure and age. The relation between age and job performance older
employees are more experienced than young ones . Than the age and jon satisfaction
relationship which is decrease in middle age non professional employees. Than the
gender have impact on job, female employees are more serious among there job than
the male employees. Race and ethnicity also effects the organization it can dangerous
for the company and can be beneficial as well . Than the disable employees are less
likely to be hired but they recieve higher performance evaluations.
 Some other biological characteristics are also described like tenure(which is seniority as
time on a particular job) religion, sexual orientation and gender identity.
 Than the term ability comes which is the individuals performance and capacity among
there job.There are two types of ability intellectual abilities ( are abilities needed to

perform mental activities, problem solving, thinking etc) and physical abilities which is
showed by its name are abilities of a managers to make everyone more aware and
sensitive to the needs and differences of others . General manager ability is an overall
factor of intelligence, as suggested by the positive correlation among intellectual abilities
dimensions .
 Than implementing diversity management strategies which are attracting,selecting and
retaining employees.
 Diversity in group will help or hurt group performance.(trait diversity and demographic
diversity)
 Organizations held effective diversity programs to teach there managers how diversified
workforces help the company etc
