The Consult Club (Task 2)

Compulsory task
In your form, you have to add the name, graduating batch of an alumni who is currently a
consultant or was an ex-consultant. You also have to add in the form, the topic of a potential
webinar that can be conducted by them for the batch. Additionally, you have to write a sample
personalized pitch for them (~200-500 words) which will make the case for them to agree for
this properly.
Kindly note that you are not allowed to submit the same names. So kindly refer to the excel sheet
attached to the email and only fill the excel sheet after you have submitted the form. Kindly
ensure that no one else has picked the same alumni when you submit your task (this will require
either you to submit the task earlier or figure out a way to internally coordinate).
Optional task (do either of the two tasks listed below)
Task 1: Article writing (submit in document format)
You can either of the following-
1. Write about a recent (last 1 year) event in the world of business and analyse the issue end
to end using relevant (multiple) strategic frameworks. Kindly note that the use of
frameworks is necessary and yet must be relevantly placed.

The articles will be judged basis the relevance to the industry, the level of detail explored,
the authenticity of the sources, lucidity in arguments and correct use of frameworks, and
the depth of the insights analyzed. Grammar, referencing styles (APA), and sentence
structuring shall be presumed as hygiene factors.

Submissions used in other clubs will be disqualified.

2. Write a fun and engaging piece about the world of consulting by using multiple strategic
frameworks. Topics that exist online should not be included (like how do consultants
make a girlfriend). Please ensure that social sensibilities are not mocked in your attempt
to keep the fun quotient high.

The articles will be judged on the level of detail explored, proper use of the framework
and fun quotient.

The word limit for the article can be anywhere between 600-800 words. If you are using more
frameworks, the word limit can be lower. Make sure to cite all references in APA style (if
relevant for the first topic) and use legitimate references (Wikipedia is probably a bad idea).
Task 2: Guesstimates (Submit in ppt format)
Solve any one of the following guesstimate questions. Solve it in a structured manner, the way
you would do it in an interview. Document your thought process and don’t just state the final
answer.
Remember, evaluation will be based on the approach and not the accuracy of the answer.
Here’s something that might help you in understand how to solve a guesstimate well.
Some sample questions:
1. Estimate the number of televisions (other than CRTs) sold in Delhi and Ahmedabad in
the last calendar year
2. Estimate the total revenue from selling feature phones in India (annual)
3. Estimate the total earnings of Bikanerwala chain for the latter half of the year.
4. Estimate the number of litres of water consumed in Ahmedabad in a single day
5. Estimate the total orders delivered by Zomato in Ahmedabad in a day
6. Estimate the revenue of barbers in the Vastrapur region of Ahmedbad
7. Estimate the number of bank branches in Ahmedabad
These are suggested topics. You are free to develop a Guesstimate on your chosen topic but it
should not be something picked from the internet. Together, the club members have seen enough
problems to be able to catch most pieces of plagiarized content- so kindly be cognizant of that.
Innovative problems will definitely earn extra credit (assuming solution is structured as well).
