Figurative Language Prompt:

Step 1: Write about yourself and your interests. You can write a narrative,
a poem, a song, a letter, or a journal entry. You must incorporate
hyperbole, simile, metaphor, and personification. You do not need to
include onomatopoeia.

Step 2: Clearly label each type of figurative language. For example, make
sure you write the word “simile” where your simile is or designate a color for
each type of figurative language and make a key.

Step 3: You will now reflect. Explain the impact of figurative language in
your own writing. Walk me through your use of figurative language. What
specifically happens when you compare, exaggerate, and personify things?
What effect does that have on readers?
