o Gerritt Rosenthal had a meeting scheduled with the Congresswoman’s office on 2/26.
He delivered 14 postcards. The Congresswoman’s aide, Ellie, was receptive to the idea
and would investigate our request. Congresswoman Bonamici does not trust AG Barr.

 Gerritt Rosenthal - candidate for Oregon Metro Council District 3 seat – his site is here – spoke
to us about what the Oregon Metro Council does and why he is running.
o Covers cross-county issues such as: Transportation / Solid Waste Planning / Land Use
Planning / Housing / Parks & Open Spaces
 27 cities and 3 counties with 320,000 people
 You can find out more about Oregon Metro Council -
https://www.oregonmetro.gov/how-metro-works
o Gerritt brings a lot volunteer experience in all of the above areas. He is very involved in
Washington County Democrats. He has a background that makes him sensitive to rural
constituents (who frequently feel overlooked by local and state government).
o This position came open because the current District 3 Councilor, Craig Dirksen, is not
running.
o 50% +1 wins the election outright for the May 19th primary

 Ben Marcotte – candidate for Washington County Commissioner District 3 – no website yet –
spoke to us about what Washington County commissioners do and why he is running.
o He is running for one of the 5 Washington County Commission seats. Our district covers
225,000 people.
 Commissioners deal with Transportation / Health / Courts / Law Enforcement
o Ben has been volunteering in different capacities with Washington County via his local
Community Participation Organizations (CPO) since 1999!
o Ben’s opponent, Roy Rogers, has been holding this seat since 1985.
 Roy Rogers doesn’t show up for meetings or public events unless he is on the
agenda
 Roy Rogers does not encourage public input
 Roy Rogers has only had 2 opponents in the pasts 20 years
 Roy Rogers does not show up at CPO meetings, despite it being a regular practice
by the other 4 Washington County Commissioners
 Roy Rogers is part of the big money donor network
 His donors focus on land use management, transportation – where they
can make money
 Usually they are home builders associations and large corporations
 Roy Rogers only talks about transportation – and then only about car-based
projects
