This reading is about four myths which could have contributed to the inequality in Singapore. The
first myth talks about how inequality is need in our society as it allows individual efforts to recognise
and be rewarded and can help the economy to grow. Although it does make sense that it is
important to reward outstanding individual efforts as it help create a sense of competitiveness
among others to help with growth, it was stated that there is no correlation that inequality has an

However, due to Singapore decision to support with the US and its involvement with the Israeli, it
has caused a lot of fiction with our neighbouring countries. In the case of sending troops to help the
US, it had caused the Malaysian and Indonesian government to hold resentment against Singapore
as we invite another country. Personally, I don’t think what Singapore did was wrong, as by helping
the US with its causes it has help us to grow our economy. As mention in chapter 3 about economy,
it was stated that foreign investment have allowed our country to grow and that we needed foreign
investment to create jobs for us as well.
