Date: 09 February 2020

Artifact Description: Create a newspaper incorporating students’ articles. Incorporate

your own design and styles to create the most realistic newspaper. Follow guidelines to

receive maximum points on this activity.

What You Learned: While curating this newspaper there were many elements that I

had to consider. What stories to use, where to place them, how to place them, etc.

Once I placed my first story it set the setting ground for how everything else turned out.

There are an extensive number of tools on Microsoft Word that allow you to add to

words and pictures. Just because you decide on one front or layout for a story, know

that it will get altered by everything else that get’s placed. Patience and time

management was need to create this newspaper.

ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for STUDENTS (NETS)•S

Addressed: Standard #4b - Students select and use digital tools to plan and manage a

design process that considers design constraints and calculated risks.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: Though most times I decide on a layout

for my technology based assignments, in the future, I will not do it for an assignment like

this one. The reason why is because every decision that was made on my word

document affected something. For example, if I changed the font or font size of a text,

photos would move around even with it being in wrap text. I will layout all my stories
next time that I would include in the newspaper. I would add in all the photos I would like

to use. Only after everything has been placed, I would add the effects to the text and

photos. Finally, I would rearrange where I wanted things to go. Anything that needs to

be altered would be done with care and precision; most likely making things smaller not

bigger.
