Dear Ms. Reiles,

I am writing this letter to request a leave of absence from work due to an emergency at home.
I have been informed that my father was ill this morning and has been admitted to the Heart
Center. He had been suffering a severe chest pain over the past week, with his condition
worsening today.

I am sorry for the short notice of my request, but I will need to leave work at the moment. I
have handed over the supervision of my work to Mr. Thoreson. In case of query, please feel
free to contact me on my cellphone. I shall report back to the hotel as soon as I can.

I hope you will understand my position and grant me a leave today. I apologize for the
inconvenience caused by my absence.
