Development is a multi-faceted issue which can be viewed from the perspective of human and

economic development. In order for there to be evidence of Caribbean Development, integration

within the region is a primary ingredient. Regional Integration in the Caribbean has been in
existence long before the establishment of CARICOM. The strength of Regional Integration was
seen through the lens of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) which was established in the
early 1920s.The West Indies Cricket team has shown strides in bringing various Caribbean
countries together while aiding in the development of this particular sport in the region
Our contention has been evident many years and fortunately, today, it still bears validity.
Regional Integration is currently alive and is breathing throughout the Caribbean and can be seen
by the considerable efforts of CARICOM which was established 1973. This economic body has
work assiduously to achieve its goals in improving the standards of living and working
conditions, expanding trade and economic relations with third states and accelerating,
coordinating and sustaining economic development and convergence, to name a few. These
notably goals can be confined to 4 pillars of Caricom. These pillars have, without doubt, showed
strong evidence of the success of regional integration.
Evidently, Regional Integrated in the Caribbean has been graced by the economic pillar. The
Caribbean Single Market and Economy is an excellent depiction oft this pillar as it serves to
deepen the integration movement
