Reflection of Semester

So for this assignment in the beginning in the semester I chose son, white, athlete,

brother, republican, and being straight. I chose those in the beginning of the year because that’s

what I thought was most important to my life in ways of defining the person I am. Now as this

class went on I feel that I would change anything but I would get more in detail possibly with

certain categories within the areas I chose. So with being a republican I feel that I can define

myself as a hunter because I feel that this important to let people know because I like to let

people know that I am a hunter and a republican but do not go and have some type of stereotype

against me because in today’s society it is really easy to paint a picture of people like that.

Another category I would focus more upon would be family because of how important it

is to me and how I am lucky when it comes to that. I feel that I am very privileged in that aspect

not because I might be better well off than others because I really am not, but to the fact that I

have my family in my life. Yes I am at school and I do not get to see my family every day but

they are always a phone call away and they are always there for me. I feel that I am very

fortunate that my parents support me as much as they do. Now my dad can be up my ass very

often because of athletics but that is because he wants to see the best out of me and wants me to

always take advantage of the opportunities that I am given. They keep me level headed and

always make sure that I am the best person I can be.

 When it comes to the beginning of the semester and different privileges and which ones I

knew of, I always looked at having money, family, and really just all of the nice things. I

basically thought that being privileged was to living a life with no issues. Now this is still true

but after this class I began to think and developed different ideas of mine and what I believe

privileges to be. So now that i developed these ideas I think of privileges as having opportunity

and having the ability to do certain things. I feel that these are the most important type of

privileges. Because if you have the ability to do anything you want than there really should be

nothing stopping you of achieving certain goals. You can fight past all of the obstacles if you

have the ability but if you do it then it is even harder and there for you might not be as privileges.

After those two sections I feel that I would not go anywhere else with them. I felt this

while doing the project earlier in the semester but was not sure exactly what to do but after going

through the class and learning certain things I would love to emphasize on those sections.
