2013 Theme

Empowered to Proclaim

The Decade of Pentecost theme for 2013 is “Empowered to Proclaim.” The theme verse is Acts
5:33“With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.” It is
hoped that this theme will inspire even greater evangelism, church-planting and missions outreach in
our Africa Assemblies of God than ever before.

As in the past, on “Day of Pentecost 2013” (19 May 2013), the Africa Assemblies of God is encouraging
the pastors of each of its more than 70,000 AAGA-affiliated churches to celebrate Pentecost by preaching
a message on the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the Great Commission. They are then to pray with their
people to be filled with the Spirit and empowered as Christ’s witnesses according to Acts 1:8 and 2:4.
Many of our churches will be celebrating “Pentecost Week 2013” (13-19 May) with a week-long
Pentecostal and mission emphasis.

“Has Christ Been Divided?”

(cf. 1 Corinthians 1:1-17)

This year’s biblical and liturgical resources for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity come to us from
Canada. For nearly 70 years The Canadian Council of Churches has been witnessing to ecumenism, to
God’s unity in diversity in Canada and today, with 25 member denominations representing over 85% of
the Christians in Canada, is the most inclusive church council in the world. This year is the third time that
the Week of Prayer materials have been prepared in Canada. The theme is "Has Christ been divided?," a
reference to 1 Corinthians 1:1-17

2015 Theme
In 2015, our theme will be "With All My Heart" (Matthew 22:36-38). Our focus will be on truly putting
our whole heart not only into our worship (John 4:23-24), but also into our daily lives as disciples of
Jesus Christ. Our desire is to equip and encourage everyone to give God what He deserves from His
people.

2015 Mutual Theme: Youth Encouraged to Embark in Service

The 2015 Mutual theme doubles as a call to action to faithful young men and young women across the
globe:

“O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and
strength that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.”

Christ’s Extreme Sacrifice Calls

for Our Extreme Commitment

“For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all
dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto
him which died for them, and rose again.

Church leaders have announced the Mutual theme for 2016.

The theme is “Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect
brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon
the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life” (2
Nephi 31:20).

The theme may be used to enrich Mutual opening exercises, as a topic for sacrament meeting talks by
youth, or to provide focus for youth activities, including camps, youth conferences and devotionals,
according to a letter sent to local Church leaders.

The Catholic Church last week unveiled a new logo and theme for the celebration of the Year of
Ecumenism, Interreligious Dialogue and Indigenous Peoples.

According to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), the logo features three shapes,
two in blue colors and one in red, creating a blank space in the form of heart. It represents a harmonious
dynamism and movement in a circle.

At the center of the heart is the theme for the year 2020: “Dialogue Towards Harmony.”
