Social class 3 middle class, 4 working class (3 participants expressed
uncertainty about their social class category)
Disability status 1 disabled, 6 not disabled
Relationship status 6 partnered, 1 single
Children None had children
Any tattoos 4 had at least one tattoo
Any tattoos removed None had had a tattoo removed
Any facial/ear piercings 4 had at least one facial/ear piercing (the most common being
ear lobe piercings)
Any body piercings 2 had at least one body piercing
Any piercings removed 3 had at least one facial/ear or body piercing removed
