Holy Eucharist
 Eucharist which means “to give thanks”
 completes the Christian Initiation
 the participation of the faithful in the
Lord’s own sacrifice
 A communal act of worship and sacrifice
 Latin: communio (sharing in common)
 Greek: κοινωνία (fellowship)
• We do not simply celebrate a memorial, a
past event, but we also experience in here
the present moment, the grace of God at
work in our lives, in Jesus who gives
himself up for us
• The intimate interconnection between
the Church and Eucharist is dynamic,
active relationship
• It is in gathering for Eucharist that
individual Christians become the Church
• It is Christ who called us as one Body
