RELIGIOUS EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Greetings!

This is to inform you that your son/daughter is currently enrolled in the subject D-REED122 – Christian Discipleship
in the Modern World every Wednesday, at 0700-1000. The course familiarizes students with the beginning, growth
and spread of the Church as a community of disciples being animated and expressed in the celebration of the
sacraments. It also discusses the highlights of Vatican II vis-à-vis the challenges of Renewed Integral
Evangelization in the Philippine Church for a more meaningful and active participation in the celebration of the
sacraments and in the building up of the Christian community in the modern world.

In this subject, the learning process is blended, that means 50% of the required class hours is for classroom
activities and the other 50% will be online or schoolbook (no classroom attendance). Schoolbook, commonly called
“SB”, is DLSUD’s virtual learning environment tool that enriches learning experience and strengthens student-
teacher and student-student exchanges beyond the classroom. It functions as a course management system where
faculty create electronic classes to share learning materials and design online learning activities. Students can
access lessons, receive assignment reminders and communicate with teachers and classmates through
messaging, discussion forums and chatrooms. Through Schoolbook, the University intends to build and nurture an
online community of lifelong learners.

In this regard, I would like to inform you that every WEDNESDAY at 0700-0830 starting February 12, 2020 of this
semester your son/daughter has online activities. S/he is not required to be in the classroom except if there is a
change of schedule to be posted at least two days in the schoolbook. You may also monitor the academic status of
your son/daughter through Schoolbook.

Thank you very much.

Respectfully yours,

Marnon L. Regis, PhD
