SELF CARE BASICS

What is self-care?
Self-care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental,
emotional, and physical health. Although it’s a simple concept in theory, it’s something
we very often overlook. Good self-care is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety.
It’s also key to a good relationship with oneself and others.

Here are 12 ways to get started with your self-care.

1. Make sleep part of your self-care routine.

2. Take care of yourself by taking care of your gut.

3. Exercise daily as part of your self-care routine.

4. Eat right for self-care.

5. Say no to others, and say yes to your self-care.

6. Take a self-care trip.

7. Take a self-care break by getting outside.

8. Let a pet help you with your self-care.

9. Take care of yourself by getting organized.

10. Cook at home to care for yourself.

4. MAKING PLANS AND SETTING
GOALS

Specific: What is the specific goal you're trying to accomplish? And be specific!

Measurable: How can you measure your success? Think about how you will know when
you've accomplished the goal.
Actionable: What are the actionable steps (aka objectives) needed to achieve the goal?
Break the goal into smaller steps. List every step.

Responsible: Who are the people that must support this goal? If you need the support of
your manager, co-workers, friends, or family, make note of it here.

Time-bound: When do you want to achieve the goal?

TYPES OF GOALS:

#1. Lifetime Goals

Lifetime goals are the goals that will take anywhere from a year to entire
lifetime to achieve. The best way to figure out your lifetime goals is to
picture a future version of yourself, you would like to become.

#2. Long-Term Goals

They need to have the specific time limits put on them: typically 5 or 10
year goals. if you're serious about a goal, then you should make a long-
term goal that's many years in the future, and then use a series of short-
team goals to achieve it.

Example: Setting aside $100,000 in savings for retirement by Sept. 2026

#3. Short Term Goals
Short term goals are not always that short. They may be a month, six
months or a year. These are the stepping stone goals with the express
purpose of reaching long term or lifetime goals.
