Example: Warranted Assumption

John must be a very good at math, look at his glasses !


Explantion:
The fact that John is assumed to be good at math only based
on the size of his glasses is a Warranted assumption. These
assumptions are base losely on the general knownledge of the
speaker on the situation with out any rational explanations.
Example: Unwarranted Assumption
The Milk can’t be bad after just one week in the fridge.
Explanation:
The statement above is also an assumption but is has a well-
established reasoning for it’s preiction-Milk has typically long
life span when perserve in fridges, about 1-month worth of
time. Therefore, this kind of assumptions is refer to as
Unwarranted assumptions
Example: Stereotyping
Quang is an Asian so he must be good at math.
Explanation:
Stereotypes are the results of hasty generalisations. These
faulty-assumption which later led to the creations of
stereotypes; in this case, the warranted assumption being
that:”All Asian are good at maths”; thus, the speaker assume
Quang’s ability to do math base losely on his origin, or
Stereotyping
