Jacksontown Hospital Expanding for the First Time in 35 Years

HAMILTON – March 19, 2020 – Jacksontown Hospital is expanding thanks to a


generous donation by local philanthropist Peter Elgin. This donation will allow the
hospital to embark on its first major development project since it first opened 35
years ago.

WHO: Jacksontown Hospital will host a media conference with their


CEO, Janet Smith, as well as the hospital’s board of directors.
Mr. Elgin will also be in attendance. He is the owner of Jentec,
part owner of the local National Hockey League Team, the
Jacksontown Hornets, and a member of the town Rotary Club.

WHAT: Jacksontown Hospital is receiving a considerable donation


from Peter Elgin. This money will be used to build a new
research centre for cancer research at the hospital.

WHERE: The conference is being held in the Sun Room at


Jacksontown Hospital located at 15 Blue Nose Crescent.

WHEN: Thursday, March 22 at 10 a.m.

WHY: Jacksontown has been serving the health needs of the


community and this new research centre will be home to some
of the top cancer researchers from around the world.

HOW: This expansion will benefit the community by continuing to


employ people and advancing the ability to serve health
needs and provide health services.
