VISION AND MISSION OF AAMA


VISION :

AAMA is an association that globally serves, particularly the continents of Asia and Africa, by
providing information, education and services about the peaceful resolution of conflict through
mediation and other forms of alternate dispute resolution. AAMA promotes the use, awareness and
benefits of forms of alternate dispute resolution especially mediation to the African and Asian
regions.

MISSION:

AAMA mission is to globally promote the use of mediation and other processes that work toward
resolution of disputes and management of conflict and to support the professional development of
those who practice mediation by providing education, training, and publications for those seeking a
broader or deeper understanding of alternative dispute resolution specifically in Africa and Asia.
Through its various Chapters AAMA will help provide for regional trainings and dispute resolution
services through its experts.

TERMS OF REFERENCE OF AAMA CHAPTER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To provide awareness, acceptance and recognition of mediation and other appropriate


processes for conflict resolution by presenting meaningful information to the public, courts
and other interested professionals
• To conduct and carry trainings, workshops, seminars, conferences, competitions etc.
successfully.
• To regulate and supervise the practice of dispute resolution, promote the quality of services,
train and support lawyers and improve the legal environment.
• To accredit and maintain a panel of mediators and other neutrals along with providing
consultancy in dispute avoidance and dispute management and promotes alternative ways
of settling conflicts.
• To provide regional cooperation on mediation and mediation advocacy training and
professional growth to trained mediators and prospective mediators by organizing
workshops and seminars
• To provide a comprehensive cross-border dispute resolution platform for two enterprises,
formulate professional standards for mediators and other professionals involved in dispute
management either through a global or cross-border organisation or upon collaboration
with locally established organisations.
• To facilitate mediations for cross-border and/or cross-cultural disputes particularly within
the region of Africa and Asia.
• To promote peace through mediation and other conflict transformation processes by
facilitating the exchange and development of knowledge, values and skills of mediation and
conflict transformation processes in any form including inter-cultural trainings.

AAMA CHAPTER COMMITTEE:

It shall consist of six members, each representing a unique district/state.
