also to Suri. I am proud of him as he was our senior in B.tech (SVEC, Tirupati).

1.aptitude test(all questions were from RS agrwal)

2.technical test(it was on C.it was dead easy.they just asked very basics)
3.GD
4.tech and HR interview.

regarding my interview i was not asked any tech questions.he asked me only 2
questions. they are

1.one prob regarding TRANSLATION OF AXES(COORDINATE GEOMETRY

FROM INTERMEDIATE)
2.SWAP TWO NUMBERS WITHOUT USING A TEMP VARIABLE.

He concentrated mostly on my attitude and communication skill.

Hello Friends.
I  appeared for Patni pull campus held on 12 and 13th may 2010 at JISC Kalyani. Its
a pull campus organized in JIS group colleges.I am a student of NARULA INSTITUTE
OF TECHNOLOGY(JIS group).
Guys, Patni is having the fairest procedure ,I have ever seen by any company.
There are more than 750 copies for evulation and i m sure not a single copy was
left unchecked. There are many representatives from Patni and they have gone
through each and every copy .So be sure you are going to be well checked.

Eligibility Criteria:
(1)60% through with no active back log.
(2)  Maximum 1 year Gap.

Procedure:
1. Aptitude test
2. Mail writing.
3.P.I.(Tech. + H.R.)

APTITUDE TEST
40 ques and 60 min
This time Patni is having whole new pattern for test. The pattern is completely
new as compared to what told by our seniors at this site. Previously it consists of
Quant, English, and others but this time there was ONLY REASONING and some
question from English and a passage.
Question are on:
(1). Blood relation
(2). There are two kind of people in a city. One who always say truth called Traunt
and others who always lie called Laurant. some question are there on them as
1. Appu says" he is traunt but kappu is not" what are appu and kappu?
a. traunt , traunt     b. traunt laurant      c. laurant traunt       d. laurant laurant
And there are many more like this.
3.There is a puzzle relating the treasure in the box.
(3) Many question from reasoning and puzzles
(4) one stats or data interpretation  question . a diagram was given with certain
values and 5 question was asked upon them
(5) some question on english .. to find erroneous part in a statment ...some
more .. and a passage with question on them. the passage i feel was hard as there
are no direct question in spite they are like that " what author want to say" .. "
what author want to infer from the passage"..."what is suitable title for
passage" ..like that.
After aptitude only 111 remains I being one of them. Belive me guys the aptitude
is really tough.You have to remain cool if you want to crack.And my suggestion is
solve the english first.They are at the end.

After that there is mail writing.Its not an eliminating round.They check your patrs
of speech and spellings only.And its useful during personal interview.

Next day on 13 th we had our P.I. There were 6 panels.My P.I. was held in the
early hours.I waited outside the panel room for about 1 hr.Oh!! what a moment it
was.Finally my H.R. panelist called me. He is a great man.So much polite and
confident.He welcomed me and shook my hand and offered me a seat.

Hr:So you are Pranit from Burdwan right?

Me: Yes sir
H.R:Are you tensed?
Me: A bit sir..............
H.R:So tell me why PCS?
Me: Answered it...
H.R:Choose between PCS and Microsoft
me: I choose Microsoft(not sure its the correct answer) .
H.R: You are fom E.C.E. and you know only C?what will I gain by taking you?
Me: answered....
H.R: If i have to hire only one then why should it be you?
Me: answered

then suddenly it seems that my interview is over and he asked me do I have any
questions

Me:what things I have to give stress after joining PCS?

again I was thunder struked

H.R:Pranit you have to improve your communication skills and have to learn other
softwares.....

It seems that they are not interested in me..but I didn't gave up.Started telling in
my mind "All izz well".....

And my interview began again.....

H.R:Sell this P.C to me within 30 secs.
me: sold.......
H.R:You have extremely good marks why not IIT?
Me: answered it smartly.
H.R:Gave me the mail(previously mentioned) and told me to find the most
important 2 lines.
Me:Told confidently
H.R: Ok .Can you solve puzzles.
And he gave me a puzzle.I started it but couldn't complete...He actually sees the
approach..

Then he told ok we are finished.Thanks for your time Pranit.

After 3 days the result was declared on 17 th May 2010....and guess what? I am In
PCS...Its a great pleasure indeed.And out of 111 students finally 61 are
selected.....

Guys please follow my paper and you will definitely succeed. And never loose
hope.

Hi Guys This is Dipanjan Palit currently studying in 4th yr in B-tech(I.T) at JIS

College of Engineering.,Kalyani
PCS(Patni) visited our campus on 12/05/10.
Reporting time was around 12:00 pm but the company people didn't showed up
till 4:00pm.We were instructed that we were going to have our aptitude tests first
and then they will give the PPT.

The aptitude test started around 4:15pm.Now the paper had two sets 2E and 2A.I
received  2E..The paper was a complete shocker- It had nothing in common with
the other papers of Patni.The paper had 40 questions and we were given a time
of 1hr.The paper had 40 questions of qualitative nature (not a single one was of
quantitative nature).I am presenting just a recall I couldn't remember all of them:

>> There was a passage of two paragraphs about gossip and blah blah etc............
It was a fairly long one (my suggestion is that don't go to attempt this first as it
consumes a lot of time ,  buddy save your time for other questions --you will need
it ).Then there were questions like::

>main idea of the passage

>meaning of a certain word(honestly I don't remember the word).

>overall idea of the passage

(The other questions were of this nature only, if you are smart enough you can
figure it out).

>>then there was a problem of representing numbers with letters (it was a bit
tough frankly I didn't try to attempt it)

>>all other of my pets except one are dogs ,all other of my pets except one
cats,all other of my pets except one are rabbits ,all other of my pets except one
are guinea pigs.how many pets I have? Ans-4

>>then there were few questions of truth and lie (name of two funny characters
well perhaps lesser funny than me just kidding) about a person speaking few
words we have to find out who is speaking the truth and who is speaking
lies...There were about four of the questions.
>>two questions about some facts of fictions written on three boxes.we have to
find out which among the three contains the treasure..

>>Again there were questions of truth and lies (Oh no!!). You have to think hard
about them.Concentrate hard you will certainly solve them.

>>A 6 m pole and a 2m pole are erected parallel to each other. From the top of
one pole another is connected to its base. Find the height of the point of
intersection of the ropes from the ground.Ans-3/2m

>>There were plenty of questions after this from some statistical data provided
about the usage of some commodities in various parts of India. We have to do
simple calculations to solve them (they were comparatively easy ___Thank God
some relief !!)

>>Next were some questions about data sufficiency (More easy to solve than it
looks) .

>>I went to the park to meet my mother's only brother's only nephew's
cousin.Ans--My cousin

>>There was a hustle bustle diagram couldn't figure it out (in fact no one did!!)
about various lines connecting two points.(Can't they give anything straight
forward??!!)

>>There was then a relatively simpler problem about few shop items and various
amount for purchasing Various combination s of prices were given we have to
find the price of another combination. (You will figure it out if you had passed
class 5 by then __well of course you had!!)

>>Lastly there was a question about some encoding and decoding of letters.
(Much much easy....)
Our aptitude test was over by 5:15pm. We submitted our answer sheets and we
were instructed to wait for further communication. (I had figured it out by now
that I am not such a idiot at all I had done most of the questions unlike majority of
the others.....Well lets see what God has decided for me.......)

To add to the further delay (not to mention boredom!!) in results the HR people
decided to present the PPT before they announce the results. (Before you decide
by what means you would have abused them please imagine the condition of
us.......) It was a long and boring speech (ppts are all the same yaar...) to which
none paid attention (100% guarantee....).

After 15 minutes they began to announce the results (ah finally....) . My name was
announced in the 6th position (I am not such a dumb ass fellow after all. I hadn't
cleared the aptitude test of TCS and Capgemini previously). Out of the 350+
number of students that attended the recruitment process only 111 (Nelson
figure my dear friends..) cleared the aptitude test. (I felt more proud this time...).
Later we were informed that the cut off was somewhere around 14-15 out of 40.

The selected candidates were then handed out forms (we knew it was coming..)
to fill in our personal details. The form was bit more complicated than the others
consisting of fields of occupation of  brother also (just imagine.........). Anyways we
all filled in our details.

We were then handed out A4 sheets (Oh no now what?????). The company
employee asked us to write business e-mail about the Harbhajan-Sreesanth
incident in IPL2008. I wrote with the designation of Lalit Modi on behalf of BCCI
(no no I don't even look like him...). Later I learn't that we were asked to
communicate our own views to Harbhajan not any other person's (What the
****?? ). The mail should be clear and precise don't add unnecessary sentences.
Be clear about the subject. We were told that the Company HR will give marks to
it and will play a important factor in your selection procedure (certainly it was
unique.......). The interview time was fixed to be on 10:30 am the next day we
were asked to report on time.

Next day I reached college around 11::00 am (we Indians are never punctual are
we?? ). The company people were no where to be seen. The interview didn't
began until 12:30 pm (see I told you we Indians have no punctuality in our blood).
There were only 2 panels at first but later they made it three....

My slot was in Panel 3. I got informed that they were asking very simple questions
from technical subjects and the maximum are from HR (its a universal truth for
Patni isn't it??). I entered the room at around 2:30 pm. I gave a huge smile to the
interviewer (it's compulsory) he told me"Hello Dipanjan please sit down.." I
replied "Thank you Sir.."(I would have probably seated myself in case he didn't
noticed me.......just kidding guys.....). Then started a war of questions and answers
it went by as follows::

I....r>> Well Dipanjan please tell me about yourself.

me >>(Everyone prepares it I was no exception) I am Dipanjan and blah blah blah

(okay  enough)

I....r>> Well Dipanjan describe your strengths with some adjectives and give an
example for each..

me>> (Everyone would say that be honest at this point but I did the reverse well
to some extent.). Honest truthful enthusiastic etc etc. (The main thing is you have
to impress the interviewer) I added some examples to support my answer.

he started interrogating me at this point about my answers He was just testing my

toughness and firmness the main thing here is to stick to your answer no matter
what happens.....

he asked about my weaknesses I did the same as earlier . (The interviewer

seemed to be impressed..)
If you can present same adjective as weakness as well as strengths you are sure to
win half of the battle.

I....r>> Well Dipanjan what are your areas of strength??

me>> Sir C Java and DBMS (I forgot Data structures how could I??)

I....r>> Only three?

me>> (firmly)Yes Sir.

I....r>> What is the difference between C and Java?

me>> (aha finally my field of strength) I answered.

I....r>> (shaking his head) No actually I am not looking to this answer. Say I am a
beginner I know nothing about  programming how will you make me understand
the difference?

me>> (this is new for me) Well Sir C is the base of all languages. You have to learn
C before you learn java. The various terms and words used in Java are explained
in C.

I....r>> (seemed to be unsatisfied) Well can you name some fields where C is used
in IT industry?

me>> (pausing) Well Sir as I had told earlier that C is the basic of all programming
languages........

I....r>> (interrupting me) Yah I know it but I am concerned about the use of C in
the industry.

me>> Well Sir as in Software Engg the firms following prototype model can use C
to demonstrate the project in simple way to the customer.

I....r>> (restlessly) have you ever heard the term Business logic and procedures?

me>> Of course Sir (Why did it not occur to me earlier?)

I....r>> Can you explain them?

me>> sure Sir (explained).

I....r>> Well Dipanjan you have told that DBMS is our favorite subject isn't it?

me>> Yes Sir.

I....r>> Can you give any reason why you like the subject?

me>> Sir i just like the subject as it is I just don't know why but the overall DBMS
subject impresses me.

I....r>> Can you specify your project and your role in it?

me>> Sure Sir (prepare it earlier). I took my time and explained to him.

I....r>> How many members are there in your group?

me>> Four.

I....r>> What are the role of the others?

me>> Explained........

I....r>> Do you help others with their roles and duties?

me>> Of course I do.

I....r>> Well Dipanjan what are your goals in 2 years , 5 years and 10 years?

me>> (make sure you answer to the requirements of the interviewer it is a small
trap.) Answered.

I....r>> Well you are answering just like others I would like to hear some different
goals.

me>> (I had some others in mind also) Told.........

I....r>> What is your passion?

me>> To own a IT company and perhaps to recruit you Sir.

I....r>> (Smiling) In how many years do you plan to do that?

me>> In 20 years perhaps....

I....r>> (Still smiling) Is it so?

me>> (smiling) Yes Sir.

then out of nowhere came the terminal question.....

I....r>> Dipanjan explain yourself in few sentences without using any adjectives......

me>> (taken aback and fumbling) I am Dipanjan I am a simple (oh no....) guy and
etc etc..

I....r>>Thank u Dipanjan (providing his hand).

me>> (shaking hands) It was a pleasure to meet you..

I....r>> Same here you may leave now....

me>> Thank u Sir.

My interview was of 35 grueling minutes. I was drained out my energy.........

We were told that the results would be declared later and were instructed to
leave as of then...

The list of final selected candidates came out on 17th May 61 candidates were
selected. I was very pleased to see my name on 29th position (it was a out of the
world experience)....... I can just say wait and you will succeed

So friends keep your cool hold your heads high and don't let failures get into
you............ I was rejected by TCS and Capgemini earlier not to mention others as
well (it was my 7th recruitment process). Just keep trying folks may be harder
each time you fail . Try and try and you are bound to succeed dear fellow......

So friends waiting eagerly to sharing my company with you in PCS.....................

There were 40 questions based on General Aptitude with 25% negative marking
and time was 60 minutes. Many of them were from analytical reasoning. And very
few of them were tricky.Out of around 300 students only 85 students were
shortlisted. I was the lucky one among them.

In mail writing I was given the topic of  "The current education system in India and
the new proposal of one board one university system throughout India" i was
being asked to share the views on this and write to the Union Education minister.I
wrote my views in about 100 words..

I was called for the HR Interview.

I asked for the permission to come inside the cabin.
HR: Please have a seat.
I: Thank You Sir..(Smiled)
HR: So you are Manas Desai. Tell me about your yourself and your family
background.
I: answered him
HR then asked for my file and was going through my certificates....
HR: So what are your weaknesses?
I: Sometimes i take too long to get normal after unexpected failure and get
frustrated easily when things dont turn my way. But i am improving it and getting
over it.
HR: So it means you will be frustrated on me too if i ask many questions today.??/
I: No sir...{smiled}I love answering questions so i wont get frustrated.
HR: Ok. Tell me your hobbies.
I: I like playing cricket.I represent my university team as a wicket keeper.
HR: Some of the cricket related questions...
I: Answered all of them smartly..

Then he changed the topic and started arguing on that mail topic of the education
system.
Finally I convinced him and he was satisfied finally..

HR: So would it be comfortable if you are posted to chennai?

I: Sir i have no problem regarding the posting.
HR: So Mr. Manas Desai thats it from my side. If you have any questions please do
ask..
I: Sir, being an Instrumentation Engineer, what would be my job profile in your
company?
HR: We will put you in the field based on your performance during your probation
period.
HR: Ok Thank you for your time Mr. Manas. It was nice talking to you. All the best
for the result
I: Thank you Sir.(Smiled)
Had a handshake with him and  I left the room with a smile...

NO TECHNICAL QUESTIONS WERE ASKED IN THE INTERVIEW...

My suggestion would be just be honest in the interview and feel at ease..

After a week the result was finally announced and i got selected....

Its an open call for all colleges of jaipur and more than 1300 students appeared
for the test.
Guys, Patni is having the fairest procedure ,I have ever seen by any company.
There are more than 1300 copies for evulation and i m sure not a single copy was
left unchecked. There are more than 14 employees from Patni and they have
gone through each and every copy .So be sure you are going to be well checked.

Eligibility Criteria:
(1)60% through with no active back log. ( but at the center we are told that it had
been reduced to 55% probably. not sure)
(2)  No year Gap during graduation ( after 12th is allowed)

Procedure:
1. Aptitude test
2. Direct interview for whose who are well ahead of cut-off.
3. GD round for those who are just on the boundary.
Guys Patni is one of its own kind. You will find no other company giving so much
chance for selection that they took out two separate list of candidates and gave
another chance for those who cannot perform well in test. So keep faith for
getting called for at least second list.

After the aptitude test the result was announced after a long interval of time and
the announcement of two list make me happy ( as i think probably i will make in
to 2nd  list). but result are surprising for me as i have been in the 1st list!!!!.
there are around 350+ students selected.
After the announcement we are told to move to class rooms for form filling and a
essay writing. Guys it is not an elimination round.There was a case study which 
says that " Suppose that you are a project leader and working on project which
will be delayed due to some reasons "we have to write an email to a deptt stating
that there can be possible delay of our project.

Mean while for the candidates who are in second list the GD round was already
started. The topic was mostly general topics.
Next day at morning 8.AM interviews started. There are different panels taking
interview at same time. My interview was at around 10 AM. Mine was mostly HR.
IT was like that
Me. may I come in sir?
He(sir of around 35). yes come in.
He offered a handshake and i joined hands.
He. why did you choose IT?
Me. balalabha.....
He. tell me about the essay you have written?
Me. explains the whole essay to him
He( reading the form). what did you do apart from studies?
Me. balalabha.......
He. any favorite subject ?
Me. yes sir computer network.
He. why computer n/w?
Me. bahlbalba,...
He. tell me different types of n/w?
Me. told.
He. What is VPN?(virtual private n/w)
Me. Told
He. tell me about your project of B.E?
Me. explains my project.
Here he tried to caught me in testing and test cases design. but i think i managed
to escaped from there.

My interview was over in 15-20 min. Guys they do not ask much technical just go
through some basic programs of C..as Fibonacci..prime no ... armstrong...reverse 
like that..and go through your project very well ..they will definitely ask about ur
project. Just be confident.
They told us that result will be out in 2 days.. after waiting for whole 2 days we
finally got our result. from 1300 students appeared they finally select 117
students and I am one of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all this is Maruthi Rao an Engineering Graduate in Electrical &

Electronics Engineering (EEE) I attaned PCS (Patni computer Systems
Ltd) on 28th Dec. On 24th Dec I got a mail from 1 of the PCS HR that
they want people for Software Testing, stating that she saw my resume
in Naukri.com she asked my response on that.As soon as I saw the mail I
mailed my resume with my willingness.
 
On 26th Dec(I saw it on 27th afternoon)
I got the mail from the same HR, that on 28th Dec I need to attend for
Aptitude test->Group discussion.  
Time of Reporting: 10.00am
 
My Venue was Patni Knowledge Pank, Airoli, Navi Mumbai.
They asked me to come with the Resume, photo and Printout of the mail.
 
Next day I reached on time took ID card from Security
By 10.00 all occupied there respective places.
10.15 Our Xam Started.
 
Now coming to the Pattern of the exam: It was a 1hr 10min (70 min) test
with 60 questions.(Objective type)
 
The paper was divided in 3 parts.  
a) English      (15 ques)
b) Analytical ability (15ques)
c) Quantitative ability (30ques)
There was a sectional Cut off with negative (they told while distributing
papers)
 
English, it was the simplest n silliest Que paper tat I have ever
seen.....simple questions like fill in the blanks (a, an, the).few other were
……sentence was given n 1 word in the sentence marked we need to
find out the synonyms/antonyms.
These all were of about 8 marks, after that i had a passage for remaining
marks.
The passage was on open source related (to software) n was quite easy 1
to do.
 
For Analytical n quantitative part I suggest u to go through R.S
Aggarwal Quantitative, Verbal and Non verbal books.
The topics on which they focused were….
Ratio n proportion,
Percentages,
Profit & Loss,
Direction problem,
SI, CI, Chain Rule,
Blood Relation,
Data Sufficiency,
 
U need to b fast & correct if u want to clear the cutoff
 
At 11.25am they took the papers n asked us to wait for the result.
After ½ hr they announced the result. 22 were short listed for next
session i.e. GD
They had arranged snacks for us, they asked us (4 all) to have it n asked
the selected students to come back for GD.
 
Coming to GD,
We 22 members were divided into group of 2…11 members in each
group.
My name was in 1st group.
They provided a paper for rough work (to note down the pts...etc…)
 
My GD topic was Advertisements r more about glitters not reality.
They provided 2 min for rough work (to think on that topic…)
After that GD started we had a nice discussion (Me contributed some
healthy points)...After that HR (two ladies) asked each 1 of us to give
conclusion.
 
If unfortunately u r not able to speak in GD, I advise make use of these
kind of golden opportunities  and try to put a healthy conclusion (don’t
wait for it u may not get a chance for conclusion so try to speak in GD
itself…many time the persons who conclude in good manner gets
selected)
 
After GD was over, HR asked us to write our conclusion in that paper,
with some pts about PCS & left the room after 5 min they came with the
names...
Out of 11 members she announced 7 names including mine….
After that she gave us a form n asked us to bring it on day of Interview
(said it will b on 3rd Jan)
 
On 2nd Jan evening I got a call for Interview,
Venue, reporting time was the same, I reached by 9.15am
Interview started at 9.40am….there were about 5-6 panels…..
At around 10.20 I was called for interview……
 
Interview:
My Interview was taken by a Lady HR, she was very cool…..
As I knocked the door n asked for permission...
HR: with a smile get in Maruthi..right  Take Ur place.
Me:s….thanked with a smile.  
HR: How r u? U can call me abcabc….. (Had an introdution).
Me: I m fine.abcabc & Thanked (with a smile)
HR: how did u come here ?
ME: by Patni Bus (they have arranged for us)  
HR: can we start with small introduction of u, Ur ’s family, Ur education
background, and one project that u have motioned in ur resume.
ME: sure (with a smile) Started in a full flow…after some time when i
was explaining my project I was not able to make out the correct sense
of my project (as it can’t be explained without any Sketch work) so, I
asked her a paper for it…she gave me a paper n I again stated in a  full

HR: why did u go for this project?
ME:  blablabla……
 
Then some questions related to my project (I was prepared for it becoz
in of campus they mainly concentrate on Project)
 
Then she started asking me questions from my resume(covered almost
every pt that I motioned about me in my resume)…… She asked me
about my long term goals n my efforts for it asked to explain with an
example
 
Then she asked me about subject….
 
After some time I found her satisfied with my answers……as she started
telling me about the company the work I need to do (as I already said
they called us for testing field) was telling me how a person should b in
testing field… (This was the time I found myself in safe place n was
sure to find my name in the final list).
 
HR: ok u wait out side the Other HR person will let u know the result.
ME:ok madam.
HR: Thanq Maruthi. (With a big smile)
ME: Thanq madam (With a big smile)  
Walked out happily.
After few min 1 HR person came to me. Saying u r Maruthi Right…..
ME:Ya
HE said Congrats u r now in patni computers…me thanked him with a
smile...
 
Then he told me they will send offer letter in a week……..  
 
So I advice….always be with projects/Paper Presentations that u
have….be ready for any type of question from ur resume….so plz take
care while preparing ur resume.

Interview (Tech+Hr.):-  
Int.:- Have a seat..
Int:- tell me about yourself?
Int:- Name of Subject which u have studied?
Int:- About Ur strength and improvement areas also ur interests?
Int:- Question Related to C lang.
Int:- A new language does not any library function and header file…how we can check
whether a number is perfect square or not? ……..String Palidrome…..Reverse Number……

My interview was of around 20-25 minutes................ I gave all the answers………After

Interview they selected 30 students….i was one of them…. Before being selected in PCS, I have
appeared in Infy, Tech Mahindra., Zensar., Satyam.,I-Flex..I-gate.,,.....In all this  i have been
rejected..........Finally i got selected at PCS.........Work Hard ......Success will touch ur feet.. After
getting clearing these 3 round they gave 3 cds and 3 weeks time. Asked us to submit assignment
on the subject on the cd. the Cd consist of tutorial and lab exercise.

After submiting the assignment there is pre-assessement test and based on performance of
assignement and test they will send for training(patni preparatory program ppp)..

The training will be 6 to 8 weeks and the stipend for the training will be paid along with our first
month salary.We have to sign a two year agreement and also pay 75k refundable deposit. This
deposit is refundable after 2 years.
