THE EVALUATION OF THE GEOMETRY OF THE MINE ROAD

FROM BLOCK A TOWARDS STOCKPILE THE NICKEL ORE

ABSTRACK

PT. Baula Petra Buana is one of the mining companies of nickel ore that
operate in the District Tinanggea kabupaten Konawe Selatan.The geometry of the
mine road should be noted that the ability of the conveyance in the conduct of
workmanship needs to be done controlling continuously to the capability to estimate
the ability of the production of means of conveyance. Rough terrain there may be
along the route of the mine road should be overcome by changing the design of
streets to improve the aspects of benefits and safety. Based on the survey directly in
the field the geometry of the road is assessed with the condition of the haul road that
is narrow for the movement of means of conveyance and can be dangerous for other
road users. The purpose of the problems the evaluate and design the geometry of the
mine road from Block A to Stockpile at PT. Baula petra Buana. Based on the
calculation of The American Association Of State Highway and Transportation
Official (AASHTO) Manual Rural High Way Design 1973, the minimum width of the
haul road that can be traversed with by Dumpt Hino 500 FM 260 TI for passing on
the haul road conditions are straight, i.e. compositions is 8.56 meters, to the road on
bends, i.e. 12,34 meters.The slope of the road on the bend to the fingers that is equal
to 14,38 meters to keep the transport equipment will not tip past the bend with a
certain speed.For the superelevation to be made that 4% in order to overcome the
centrifugal force that works on the means of conveyance while passing through the
bend at a speed that has been determined.The slope of the haul road must be made
not more above 8%. Based on the road width, cross slope created that is 17 cm to the
side of the road so that the road is not inundated by water. For the results of the
determination of the transport time charged from the Block A to the Stockpile that is
of 6.29 minutes. As for the results of the determination of the time transport of a
blank from the Stockpile towards the Block A that of. 3,08 minutes.
