PLANT PROPAGATION

* is the process of creating new plants;

* can also refer to the man-made or natural dispersal of seeds;
* it is also the art and science of multiplying plants by Sexual and Asexual means.

Types of plant propagation:

1. Sexual propagation
2. Asexual propagation

*Sexual reproduction/propagation
* is the union of the pollen and egg and involves the floral parts of the plants;
* starting plants from seeds.

Seeds and spores can be used for reproduction (through e.g sowing).
Seeds
are typically produced from sexual reproduction within a species, because
genetic recombination has occurred.

Advantages of Sexual Propagation

1. Fast way to get many plants.
2. Easy to do.
3. Economical

Disadvantages of Sexual Propagation

1. Some plants, especially hybrids, do not reproduce true parents.
2. Some plants are difficult to propagate from seeds.
