Socio-cultural factors

 A larger scale forces within cultures and societies that affect the thought, feelings and
behaviors. These are the customs, lifestyles and values that characterize a society. It
includes aesthetics, education, language, law and politics, religion, social organizations,
technology and material culture, values and attitudes.

Labor market situation

 It refers to the supply and demand for labor in which the employees provide the supply
while employers provide the demand. It is a major component of any economy and is
intricately tied in with markets for capital, goods and services.

Geographic distribution of opportunities

 According to (Rosenbaum, 1995:231), It refers to where an individual live affects their


opportunities and outcomes

CAREER CHOICE THEORY - According to John Holland Theory of Career Choice (RIASEC) maintains that in
choosing a career, people prefer jobs where they can be around others who are like them. They search
for environments that will let them use their skills and abilities, and express their attitudes and values,
while taking on enjoyable problems and roles. -------------------------------------------

Theory of occupational allocation(Opportunity structure) Apart from a privileged minority of the


population individuals are constrained in their choice of occupations by social variables that are outside
their control e.g. gender, ethnicity and social class ----------------------------------------

ECONOMIC DEMAND -Demand is an economic principle referring to a consumer's desire to purchase


goods and services and willingness to pay a price for a specific good or service. - Holding all other factors
constant, an increase in the price of a good or service will decrease the quantity demanded, and vice
versa. ----------------------------

CAREER CHOICE -Career Choice. Most individuals have an interest in or affinity toward certain career
fields or occupations. ... A choice implies the completion of some actions or successful steps, and the
attainment of a career is the final outcome of the career choice process.
